Hi, Miranda, and welcome.  Who is "Other day"?  You need a doctor to diagnose you.  They need to rule out other illnesses before they give the diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...second thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibromyalgia including a link called What Else Could It Be.  This is why you need to have these ruled out by a doctor.

Everyone here is different and we all take different things.  That's why it's good to start with your doctor and go from there.  When we know what is going on with you, what symptoms you are having, then we might be able to help you.

I'm glad you popped over here and I hope you will let us know what you find out.  I hope to hear more from you soon.

What medications did they suggest for fibromyalgia?  Did they do a tender point test on you too?  Did you have a lot of blood work done to rule out things like rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme disease, etc?

The medications you listed seem to be for other illnesses. I know the Nexium is for ulcers...I take Prilosec.  The Synthroid is for thyroid problems, and the Pentasa is for digestive problems I believe.  I have Crohn's disease but have it under control right now.  But, I don't see anything for fibromyalgia.

I use ibuprofen with food but you shouldn't take that if you have ulcers.  I also take extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D supplements.  There are links about the supplements in Fibro 101.  Many with fibro are deficient in these and that can cause pain and fatigue.  Be sure to pass this by your doctor.

Also, moist heat helps with pain and so does gentle stretching and gentle exercises.  I walk and swim as my gentle exercise.  If you sit or lay too long with fibro, you will be stiff as a board.  There are some good gentle stretching exercises on Fibro 101, too.

I hope this helps you some.  You really haven't told us a whole lot of what is going on with you so we are just guessing here.  I hope you feel better soon.

Well, you have a lot on  your plate right now, don't you!  I have a friend that had acid reflux so bad that it damaged his teeth, too.  He would bite into something and they would break off.  His front teeth were jagged!  He did have them fixed and he is careful about what he eats and keeps the reflux under control.

If I were you, I'd start taking Citracal.  It's a calcium supplement.  I don't know how old you are but taking one wouldn't hurt you.  I have osteoporosis and I take two a day.  Citracal is easily absorbed and you need something that absorbs easily because of  your Crohn's.  This might help strengthen your teeth.

I know all the things you can't eat because of Crohn's and ulcers.  I remember those days.  Things had to be bland, couldn't have fresh fruits and veggies or salad but I could have canned fruits and veggies.  I hope you can, too.  I had pasta, rice, meat, fish, poultry, breads, etc. so there is a lot you can eat, too.  My Crohn's was centered in my colon so once I had that removed I've been alright and I can eat most everything now.

I still have acid reflux and use Prilosec and Tums to help me.  I don't eat fried foods or snacks, acidic foods, spicy foods, or anything I know will cause me problems.  I also don't eat late at night.  You want that food to be digested so things aren't as apt to come up in the middle of the night.

I used to have ulcers in my mouth...even as a child.  I think they were from the Crohn's but I'm not sure.  Now, what I'm going to tell you will sound crazy!  LOL  about 25 years ago I just got fed up with the stupid ulcers.  I'd no sooner clear some up and others would appear...especially inside my cheeks and along my tongue.  I just figured these could be caused by bacteria and what can kill bacteria????  Alcohol!  So, I got some rum, put some in my mouth and swished it around and then spit it out.  The ulcers burned like crazy for a few seconds and then they kind of went numb.  Then they didn't seem as bad so I used the rum again a few hours later and spit it out.  (I didn't swallow it because it was "straight" plus I take medications and didn't want to have it interact with the medications.)  Anyway, I did this 2-3 times a day for a few days and the ulcers cleared up for me!

When my children got canker sores, I would put rum on a Q-tip and put it on the sore.  They knew it would sting at first but they also knew the sore would go away, too, so they would come to me and ask for me to do that.  I know it sounds weird and the members on this forum kid me about my "medicinal rum" but it sure worked for me!

I think I covered all of your questions and comments.  I hope some of what I've said will help you.  We are here to help so don't hesitate to ask questions.  Feel better!
