but the main question for tonight is does anyone have problems loosing weight and it being related to fibro? im about 5'7 and weight alot more then i should although im active, but although i eat 3 times a day, i eat like a bird and don't really snack all day, and im just curious to see if anyone else has problems.

i hope everyone is doing okay! and feeling well!

I gained weight with the fibromyaglia because of being less active, but wonder too if it was my age. I recently switched medications from effexor to pristiq and lost eight pounds.

I hope that you are able to lose some weight. My doc wanted me on a protien diet. I didn't stick with it though.

Hugs, Karen

Welcome back Ash. Have you had your thyroid checked??? I'm lucky in the fact that even on amitriptyline and the way I eat I have not gained weight but I know a lot of muscle has turned to flab from not being as active as I was before fibro.

Let me preface this by saying that I would never suggest this to be effective for everyone, but for me it was. I discovered through elimination diet that I had a gluten sensitivity. When I eliminated gluten, I lost 35 lbs over the course of about 6 months, and have kept it off now for more than a year, and I've been bad about exercising because of my fibro and migraines as well.

I would not dream of telling people that this is a cure-all, but I am also of the opinion that it can't hurt, and it might help. I never heard of eating a healthy diet of fresh foods and eliminating processed junk from one's diet to have a negative health impact!

Happy belated birthday as well!

I found out in July that I have celiac and I thought as soon as my small intestine healed I would pack on the lbs but I have actually lost about 5lbs. I know the way I eat and I should not be loosing weight so it must be the gluten free diet.

It's a hard diet to stay on for me since I love breads and pastries and I know I would have never gone gluten free unless I had to. Your right Cali it's not for everyone but it won't hurt you to cut out some glutens.

I lost 151 pounds over the last three years by understanding when I am full, eating 5 meals a day...exercising as much as I can (foot peddles, swimming, stretching, etc.) For me there was little pragmatic choice as I could not haul around 300 pounds...best advise: eat when hungry, and know what is best for your body...big hugs, J

Hi Whitestone and welcome. WOW, you must feel like a new person. One of my DILs lost half of her body weight, with surgery, and I know what a difference it has made in her physically and mentally.

When I was DX'ed 2 yrs ago I weighed about 120lbs this past Oct, due to a severe bout of gastritis I got down to 87lbs, my dr threatened a feeding tube if I didn't gain some of it back. I was up to 93 again but a stomach bug caused to me to lose 3 more lbs LOL Fortunately, I have a new dr and he told me to maintain my weight. I haven't changed my diet, my only exsercize is chasing after my son. My husband did point out to me one day that I forget to eat sometimes, and he thinks that is what has caused a lot of the weight loss.

For awhile I wasn't losing weight even though I hardly ate anything, but I figured that since I don't exercise that it wasn't a big deal. Then all of a sudden I started losing weight and found out my gallbladder was shot and had it removed. I'm still losing weight though, it's getting scary. I've lost 25 pounds without meaning or wanting to, and I was of a quite healthy weight before. I guess we all have a different constellation of symptoms and co-conditions.

Hi, I have lost alot of weight too. I eat normal and have not changed nothing at all... The past 4 months I have lost 25 pounds and the Doctors don't know why. At first I lost 2 pounds which is nothing at all. He told me that it may have to do with medications, but was not sure at all... I guess we will see how much weight I loose before they take it serious. I am not to active so it would stand that I would be gaining weight. Who knows.
