Guess what happens when you fall asleep on the couch at three in the afternoon because you were up half the night, and wake up at six thirty? If you are me, you bolt awake and look at the clock and think it's morning.  Then you take a look at yourself in the mirror and decide you look like the Cryptkeeper and at 8:30 you have to get to motor vehicles to renew your drivers license because it's the last day before it expires.  You want to be there at 8:30 before the lines are snaked around the building.  Then you make coffee for the hubby, deciding there is absolutely nothing you can so with the Billy Idol hair do in such a short period of time, and boy is that new picutre gonna be excellent.  After that, you think you might be going blind because it is suddenly getting darker and darker and oh crap, another storm is rolling in.  When you look in the bed where you should have slept all night, there is no hubby.  Wow! He got up really early to post his classes on line.  While making the coffee, he comes up from his office and is so shocked to see you in the kitchen, he actually thinks you are making dinner. Uh, no.  But that's when I realized it was night.

I will say it was the best three and a half hours sleep I have had in weeks.  But...duh.  Have a terrific evening, afternoon, morning...whatever!

Oh yes...I've done very similar ones and it really screws with your mind. But at least there's not much in there to mess up...lol

Veatabula,
You are a scream. I laughed the entire time I was reading. I think most of us can relate which makes it even funnier. Glad you can laugh at yourself.

Too funny!!! I saw an AFV clip where this little boy did the same thing. He came home from the first day of school, took a nap, woke up and thought it was morning, and got ready for school. His dad played a trick on him and actually put him in the car (well, he was about 12 years old, so I guess he GOT in the car himself, lol), and started to drive him to school. They stopped to talk to a neighbor who informed the boy that it was 8:00 at night (or something like that). It was hilarious. :)

I hope the rest of your evening went well, and you were able to sleep properly that night.

Marlee...my birthday is next Sunday but the form they sent me said it had to be renewed by March 8th.  I asked the DMV psycho why that was, and she very rudely said she didn't know.  I also wanted that inhanced license so that I can get into Canada as I don't have a passport and it seems you need an original birth certificate with the seal, SS card and another form of ID that says you reside in New York State.  Geez, I gave them all of that plus five other forms of ID when I got the NYS license in 2003.
Doesn't the fact that my license is from NY prove that I live here?  I give up trying to figure out the system.  My picture is very attractive also, as somehow I woke up with a black eye one day last week and it is a nice shade of yellow-green right now.  Even a thick layer of Cover Girl didn't quite mask it.  Oh well.  I surprised they even let a fibromite like me on the roads.

Donna, I'm still chuckling about  your black eye on  your license picture!  You should have gotten a headband and an artificial skull and crossbones tattoo and put that on your cheek before you went for your picture.  The police might have had second thoughts about giving you a ticket if you had done this!  devil

Every state is different, here you can get them renewed on your birthday.

It's been a few years since I have been to Canada does everyone have to have all that or they just don't you in their country??? devil Couldn't resist Donna.

My youngest son and his ex wife went to the Bahamas for their honeymoon and they didn't know you had to have birth certificate to get back in the US. They accepted his military ID as proof he was an US citizen but her mother had to drive 100 miles each way to get a legal copy of her birth certificate and fax it to them before they would let her in the country. Let's see he lost his wedding band scuba diving and she almost didn't get the fax in time to catch the boat home, think that should have been enough warning for him??? I know I'm bad.

Have them air brush the black eye out Donna, yeah right.

Hi Donna,

I had to renew my DL by the end of February and it was extremely difficult to actually get there. Between hosp visits, taking care of ppl, no money and endless snowstorms, I was running out of time. I finally told everyone I'm out of time, went on the 27th (Saturday). I was up at the crack of dawn and I looked it! I was pleasantly surprised to find very few ppl waiting, I was moving along quickly, but all I could think of was, 'Man, I wish I had gotten a haircut', I looked like something the cat dragged in. I was so pleased when the woman asked if I wanted to just use the photo from the last time. I agreed. My hair is still white and my eyes are still blue, there you go!

Later I thought about her offer and I felt like laughing, I guess I did look that bad, that the old picture had to be an improvement. I never knew you could use an old photo, learn something new every day.

I have had the experience of getting confused w/ a different sleep pattern. I have awaken, swearing I heard the alarm, getting washed up and ready to go - then discover it is the middle of the night. I'm going back to when I was in HS, still had that about 3 yrs ago.

Hope your eye isn't hurting you. I was in my basement awhile ago, my DS and I were getting rid of stuff. We have a very low ceiling and all the heating ducts in the way. I kept slamming my head into the ducts and the beams. My DH suggested I wear a football helmet while I was down there. My head is still tender in those spots, and skinned in some areas. ICK! Only time I wished I was shorter than I am.

God bless. Alice.

I used my old picture for a long time til they took one look at it and me and decided it was time to get a new one. turn Here in Illinois if you don't have any changes to your license and no tickets or anything you can renew over the phone and they send you a sticker to put on the back of your license. Since I had moved the last time I had them renewed I had to go in and that is when they updated the picture. But get this, they spelled the name of the town I live in wrong. I had no idea til I had a wreck a couple years ago and the cop pointed it out to me and told me I should get it changed. I haven't cause it wasn't me that couldn't spell the name of one of our presidents.smilewinkgrin

Brother...I wish I had asked to use my old picture...I didn't know I had that option.  I haven't gotten my new license in the mail yet but can hardly wait to see what it looks like.  I know she showed me the picture after she took it but...well...she asked me if I 'needed those glasses to drive and to see the eye chart' and I looked her right in the face and said 'no'.  She told me to take them off, which I did and set them on the counter.  I proceeded to the camera, she rolled her eyes because I'm short and OMG, she had to reach around and lower the lens, then she snapped the picture.  I looked at it without my stupid glasses.  In her best PMS voice she yells "IS THIS OKAY?"  Yes. (and why don't you give up this job and become a prison matron, I wanted to add).  I'm sure the black eye is very attractive so it probably looks like a mug shot.  Oh well.

Donna

Vesta, As I know both motor vehicle depts we use I can well imagine the workers sounding like Hitler. Most of them are pretty
short (unlike us in stature) with people. I used my one from last time, too. Thankfully I was 8 years younger and not so many
wrinkles.

We can renew our vehicle licenses on line but when I have to have my driver's license renewed, in a few more years, we need to take a hearing test!  YIKES!  I'm a little concerned about that one since I'm legally deaf.  You can drive when  you are deaf but they might make me put a special mirror on my car.  Talk about feeling old!

We can renew online also but they sent a form to be filled out by an eye doctor.  Didn't wanna pay for an eye exam!  It's bad enough it was $64.00 for the renewel.  You gotta love NYS.

Me too Sherrine...don't know what will happen if and when we have to take a hearing test.

This time was rather easy for getting my DL, the previous time was such a struggle. I have lived in this state all my life, but I was born in another county. A couple of yrs before we were told that anyone born in that county had to get a new B/C from the state, the county one was no longer valid. Some employees in the county office were selling them to illegals.

Since I was a child, I went by a different spelling of my name than the one on my B/C. It is the name on ALL my legal papers, degrees, etc. I had to legally change my name and get a brand new B/C from the state. I did all this myself, no lawyer. What a pain in the ***! The Health Dept also made a mistake on my M/C, they messed up the date of DH's B/D. The correction was made, but on a separate pc of paper. I had to file to get a one pc corrected version from the state. The judge at my hearing said he thought this was the most ridiculous thing, all the laws to get the new papers.

All the yrs I went to MV, I would schedule a day and bring a big book. No one was leaving early. So the time I went four yrs ago, I was amazed, in and out in under 15 min. This time was even less time. We renew every 4 yrs and it costs $24. And these ppl are courteous. The vehicle registration can be mailed or online.

None the less, I'm glad it is done for the next 4 yrs.

God bless. Alice.
