It's time for the second edition of the Good News Gazette!  Here we talk about things that we have accomplished, good times we have had, and also we can give ourselves a big pat on the back, too!

This weekend was very full for me.  Saturday I went on a day trip to the Armed Forces Museum and also to a place called Heritage Village that has a lot of historic building.  I just love going back in time.  The best part is I met a new friend!  That made the trip a hit with me.

Yesterday I went to a friends home where a group of us were going to have dinner and play Mexican Train with dominoes.  I decided to try a new recipe called Mother Lode Pretzels and take them to the party.  Everyone loved them, too!  You dip the pretzels in melted caramels and then roll them in a combination of candies and nuts.  They were heavenly but I had to stand on the hard tile floor for about two hours making these.  (I needed to be close to the microwave to keep "softening" the caramels.)  My legs and back were sore but these were so wonderful that I'll be making them again.  They definitely were worth the effort.  I think I might make some and pack them in tins for Christmas gifts!  By the way, I came in second place, out of eight people at the dominoes game!  It was a very good evening.

Okay.  I really want to hear some good news from all of you now!  Let's try to keep this edition going.  It does feel soooo much better to talk about nice things instead of misery.

Sherrine, sounds like a wonderful weekend. Your pretzels sound yummy!

I had a great weekend too. My husband and I spent Saturday afternoon driving through
some of the little mountain towns, north of where we live. We stopped at a lake and just
sat and talked, I felt like we were young again and dating!

On Sunday I got together with my girlfriends and we walked a couple of miles together.
It is starting to feel like Spring. I felt energized! We are getting together later today to
walk. It may not be 2 miles again for me, but I will go as far as I can!

Hi all....

My good news is I'm not laying in agony on the verge of vomiting any more! I've beaten the bug in record time this year....one week instead of 2 months.

Making progress with puppy training. We take her to puppy classes on Sat and she's doing well acting like a little lady.... except when her puppy brain kicks in and she goes a bit nuts-o on us. That's about it for now...

Signing off from Washington state where it's raining, of course.

Yesterday morning we took our dog Dylan to Lake Ontario to see if we could cheer him up with a little walk.  He is having problems with arthritis and cancer but sometimes a ride the the car is just what he needs.  Anyway, not even expecting him to get out of the van, he walked down the ramp and laid down by the water and watched the sea gulls for about a half an hour...then even walked around the marina for a bit.  It made our day! Today I am dog sitting for my son's lab puppy and they are curled up on a dog bed together.  I love it when that happens!

Well, last night my daughter and I celebrated Thanksgiving!  wink   I was rummaging through the freezer and came across turkey and dressing that I had frozen after our Thanksgiving meal.  I just added the mashed potatoes, gravy, hot veggie, and cranberry sauce.  This only took a few minutes and I was thinking how wonderful it would be to be able to do a Thanksgiving dinner this easily instead of the all day ordeal that it usually is!  When I served it, I was singing, "We Gather Together to Ask the Lord's Blessing".  My daughter laughed and then we both enjoyed that meal.

Sherrine, you can sure make a person hungry, first the pretzels and now a turkey:)

Got together yesterday with friends to walk but we ended up eating and playing cards. it
was so much fun. Playing cards with fibro- fog is a riot. I never won a hand but I laughed
alot and had fun.

I'm still working on my family photo gallery. Why buy pictures when you have the most beautiful pictures there is to look at. I have tons of pictures to go through so this isn't a project that is going to be done right away but I have the frames on the walls like I want them.

Tomorrow I have to get to some general cleaning that I have been neglecting which will take me a week or so to do.

I have a massage this afternoon and I felt so good after the last one I'm looking forward to that.

DH seen a robin in the yard yesterday evening and that excited us both.

He has a terrible cold and has spent all day in bed and I'm popping zycam to try and ward it off, keeping my fingers crossed.

Not too much pain right now so I can't complain about too much. Well I could about the sleeping issues but won't.smilewinkgrin

Good News!!! Yeah...I love the topic.

Marlee (One of my best friends new baby girl now shares your name with you, she is a miracle baby that her parents were not sure she would be born healthy, as her older sister had many complications and passed away at the tender age of 8) Everytime I see you name, I smilewinkgrin !
Sounds like you had a great weekend. A little spring cleaning sounds wonderful, and speaking of the word Spring a Robin...its really on its way here, spring...no more snow, no more 2 feet snow in's. Bad year in PA for snow, but I hope we are around the bend!! A massage, they are so wonderful and relaxing. Esp when you have someone who knows how to give a Fibro touch. Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!!
Luv and Hugs right back!!

Robin Getting together with friends is such a blessing. It can be so relaxing and just warm the heart. Cards are fun no matter what, win...loose, it still is fun-I need to do that sometime soon!
Hugs to you!!

Sherrine I just realized that I went backwards...oh well..what a wonderful idea to enjoy Turkey and all the trimmings at any time of the year, and two thumbs up that most of it was already in the freezer so it didn't take too much effort. I know your daughter must have been pleasantly surprise...(now I'm sitting here thinking how I can go about getting some turkey and fix'ns for me)...Robin is right, I'm craving Turkey right now, but I'll settle for take out tonight instead.

Donna I'm just touched at what your doggy Dylan was able to experience. So peacefull to just sit sometimes and enjoy a beautiful view. I'm so glad he was able to walk down the ramp and get some sunshine. A lab puppy...is there anything as cute? Love them...I am such a sporting dog lover....
Huggies back to you!

Chutz I am thrilled to hear you are better and not still spending one on one time with the toilet. Such a yucky thing to have to deal with. But your better and that is what is important!! Puppy training....it's my favorite thing to watch when I go into Pet Smart here in PA. It fills my heart with joy when I see those little innocent puppies trying their best to please their masters' or not...lol. Rainy...but I hope not too chilly. And a very late thank you for sending me my ribbons. I get so caught up in other things so very often that I forget to do things, so I want to give you a big THANK YOU. Your ribbons make me feel special and that I belong to a group (not that I really want to belong) but especially on this board, I couldn't ask for a better group of understanding and kind people!!

Sherrine..I just saw the first post about more snacks and goodies, I'm leaving that alone or else I will be right over at the snack machine here at work.

I had a good weekend, hubby and I went to a comedy show on Friday night with his sister and her boyfriend, then Sat we went to a camping show to look at RV's which is a passion of mine. We hope to have a travel trailer by the end of April. I miss camping.

Hugs to Everyone!!

Well, for the next 2 weeks I am volunteering at an event in Ca. I will be working 6 hour shifts. Since I think I might be tired when I get home I have been making and freezing meals for dinner. Right now I have chicken in the pressure cooker for the homemade pot pie I am making for tonight. There will be enough for tomorrow's dinner too.

I also am planting a herb garden in pots. Today I am planting rosemary and sweet basil. Then a 2 mile walk with my golden retriever.

Food does seem to be common in our Good News, doesn't it?

Oh Donna! What a blessing for Dylan to enjoy his time at the lake. I'm sure it filled your heart, as well as your husband's heart with such joy to watch him enjoying his time there. I hope he has many, many more good days.

I LOVE this good news gazette! Are you girls ready for this? about a month ago, I met 12 other "girls" -- we are 58 years young -- for dinner. They are my friends from HIGH SCHOOL!! Hadn't seen them in 40 years. We had a BALL! So much so, we are meeting again this coming Friday night. I cannot wait! Sounds incredible, but truly they have not changed a bit. Okay in looks, of course, we've all aged, but personalities stayed the same...just amazing.

Marlee -- I have one huge wall in my living room devoted to family photographs, well actually grandchildren. I bought these little photo shelves, I believe we got them at , dang now I can't remember...anyway you can put about 2 to 3 4 x 6 framed photos on each of them. I think there are about a dozen on the wall, two rows of them and it really looks great! I update them about three times a year and when the kids come, they really enjoy checking out the "wall of fame"...to see all the kids there.

Thanks everyone for your posts...I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of them!!

I got up at 5:45 this morning, no not by choice, and when I opened the patio door to let the girls out I was greeted by a choir of singing birds all over the place, music to my ears. Tique, not being around when this happened last year, sat there looking in every direction trying to figure out where all the noise was coming from. When I got to my computer it was already 51 degrees and forecast read 65 today, yeah, yeah, yeah. It is a windy but sunny 64 right now and I opened all the windows to let the house air out for awhile. Oh yes, Marlee's kind of weather.

The girls are at the groomers get their spring dos so don't know if we will get a walk in or not.

I wish little Marlee the best and I hope she is healthy.

Aren't they so much more beautiful to look at than pictures you buy Miriam. I have Shayne's one year old to put up soon.

The massage was heaven yesterday she has just the right touch.

Today was the first day I haven't had to phone some official or office, so I decided to clean my kitchen counter. I had to, I couldn't find any space on the darn thing. While I was busy sorting and throwing away, my darling 'Evil Puppy' came over to me and jammed his delicate little tank nose into my leg. As he had my attention, I asked if he wanted to go out. He ran for the door. We went outside, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, it was a gorgeous day. So many of my plants are starting to show, the crocus were in bloom. As a bonus, the dog was really good. YEAH!

I went back to finish my counter and I heard a noise at my garden window. A beautiful Blue Jay was sitting there. I didn't want to move and disturb him, he sat there for about 2 minutes. What a treat!

Then my DD and I gave 'Evil Puppy' a bath, oh did he need it. He is forever bringing in the great outdoors. During all our snowstorms, that boy would somehow find a leaf and bring it in on his beard. Simply amazing.

It is now very overcast and chilly, the door is closed and the heat is back on, but I actually got to enjoy the beauty of spring. I feel like I got something accomplished for myself today.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

God bless. Alice.

Today I took my 13 year old Havanese dog for her yearly exam and shots.  She was groomed, too, Marlee!

Anyway, Sabra got an A - on her health report card!  The minus was because she has cataracts but she is 13 years old!  Her body weight was judged to be ideal, too, so her Mommy (me) is very happy.  But, poor Sabra is tuckered and is lying beside me right now snoozing.

I'm glad you had a peaceful day Alice but I have to ask, "why Evil Pupy"??? I had to laugh cause my two can find a leaf in a snow storm too and they like the woodsy look in the family room.

I'm glad Sabra got an A- Sherrine.

I took two fat dogs to the groomer and brought back two skinny ones. turn They look so small without all that hair. Tique wrapped her front paws around my arm when I picked her up at the groomers like she was going to make sure I wasn't going anywhere without her.

I had to run and get poor DH some cold medicine after I brought them home so we didn't get a walk today. Today is his birthday and he has been in bed for two days with a bad cold.

Sadly, here in Illinois when it gets this warm this fast look out it is storm time.

Spent the entire afternoon galavanting the area stores shopping with a couple
friends. We did take a break at a all you can eat buffet. I got plenty of excercise and
it's good because I had 2 pieces of cheese cake.

I was sore when I woke up this morning so I took it easy. It felt like I was going to be in
a full flare. I did some gentle stretching and nuked my bed buddy, By mid afternoon I
was able to walk 1.6 miles with my neighbor. Exercise really energizes me and lifts my
spirits!

Even though I crashed over the wkend, I'm feeling much better yesterday and today. The cognitive therapy is really helping. smilewinkgrin I also have an appt next Friday to get my disability paperwork filed as well as several other assistances, such as a home health aide for my husband, a ramp for his wheelchair, making our bathroom wheelchair accessable, help with the housework for me, as well as medical coverage for my entire family. I honestly didn't know there was so much help available, maybe the roid rage meltdown was God's way of saying "Hey Lola, go get some help for that, and while you're at it, here's the other help you've prayed for."

I spent the day going through the half dozen Brides Magazines with my daughter who's planning to get married in October. And we scheduled three appointments to look at three different venues tomorrow. She's so in love. What a happy day it was!

And I'm in love with the positive nature of this forum!
