What names have you had for your animals or pets??? Most of us have had some sort of pet or still do. What names have you chosen for these critters who came into your life? Feel free to list as many as you like. smilewinkgrin

When I was young I wanted a cat so bad but my mom couldn't stand even one tiny cat hair anywhere in the house. We had farm animals but something about cats she didn't like. Finally she gave in and when I was about 6 I got a long hair tabby cat. Of course I named her Fluffy. Why not! It's a perfect girl name for a long hair cat. She lived to be well over 16 and was a doll.

Over the years, more than I am willing to share, I've had more cats and a few dogs who have all lived to old age. Some of the cat names were Bob (cat...lol get it?), Einstein, Tigger, Opus, Bunky (one of my boys' cats) Muffin, Snowball, Tug and Mango. Oh and Ditz. Ya, she was a few crayons short of a full box and a stray but I was able to rehabilitate her after someone dumped her 'out in the country'. Dogs were Tramp, Lady, Moose, Chomps, Trucker, Odie, Trina, Chutney and now I have Cedar. There are some whom I can't remember but that list is long enough.

What about your pets? What names did you choose?

We had a several cats growing up. Rascal was just that, and the first pet I remember. Then Midnight, Fred(named for the expression "Der,Fred" which was used often in our house because he was extremely lovable, but rather stupid). I think there were a few when I was really young, but I don't remember names. I discovered after moving out that I was actually allergic to cats and dogs.

Spike was the only dog I ever had, but that was after I was married. My ex knew I was allergic, but cared more about having a dog than my allergies.

We now have a hamster that our 6 year old named "Donut" before we had even left the pet store with her.

We had a German Shepherd when I was a kid named Fred.  When I moved out of the house I had a Collie named Patty and two cats named Tom and Grace.  In recent years there have been cats named Corn, Callie, Kip, Molly and Gretel.  And an English Bulldog named Hyde, two Chocolate Labs named Jake and Katie and our current dogs- a Golden Retriever named Sam and a Basset Hound named Libby.

Growing up we had dogs, birds, hamsters, turtles, and fish. My dogs were Hobo, Prince, Sugar, Casey, Pierre, Missy, Beau. The birds were Elmer, Fat Daddy, Charlie, Sarg, Crystal, Sunshine, Moonshine. The hamsters, turtles and fish didn't have any particular names.

When I got married I brought Beau w/ me. We have had a few dogs thru the yrs, many times 3 at a time. Pierre and Missy were Toy Poodles and Beau was their son. We had a Yellow Lab decide to adopt us, that was Duchess, or 'Duchy', we went to get a new collar for Duchy and ended up finding a Scottie. My DH brought her home for me as an anniversary gift. She had a big long fancy name, I called her Maggie. We had the three of them for yrs, what a crazy bunch of babies. We lost Beau and Duchy and my DH thought Mag needed a friend. We went for a ride one Sunday w/ two small children in tow and ended up at a farm. We saw the most adorable Tri-Color Rough Collie, he came home w/ us. I named him 'Bairn', which is Scottish for 'Wee Child'. The dog was huge! lol All my other dogs learned very basic commands rather easily, not Bairn, he was 9 yrs old when he learned to give me his paw! But he was a big ball of love. He helped me when I suffered the greatest loss of my life. Then 2 months later I lost him. I did not think I would come up again. I couldn't even look at anyone's dog, just couldn't.

On Easter Sunday, my DH suggested we go for a ride after our dinner. We went to somebody's house, really strange, I didn't know them. They had a litter of puppies, Scotties. I wasn't sure I could do it, then I saw this absolutely insane puppy and I lost my heart. He came home w/ us and my older son named him Trevor. A few months later, we still wanted to have a Collie and they had one at the shelter. A family divorced and Mom got the children and Dad got the dog. He mistreated that dog, burned his fur. The dog was a rough Collie, sable and white, think Lassie w/o the blaze. He seemed so mellow and his coat was shaved down. Mellow Yellow came to mind, so I called him Donovan, 'Dunny' for short. He was gorgeous and very smart, I taught him sign language. We lost Dunny 3 yrs ago this coming Sunday.

We have had birds, Rainbow and Scourge (parakeets), and Cockatiels, Grace and Sammie, a rabbit, Thumper, guinea pig named Elliott, many hermit crabs.

The last pet in our house is Trevor, our 13 yr old Scottie. The dearest little man in the world. My constant companion. W/o him I'm not sure I would have survived these past 13 yrs. He is love in its purest form. I am so grateful to have him in my life. He is a blessing, as all of my babies have been.

Now, said Baby is telling me he wants to go out, so before he jabs me in the leg again, I will take my leave.

God bless. Alice.

All of our dogs have been pound puppies.  Our first dog was already named Leslie Margaret...OMG.  But she was five years old so we didn't change it.  Then we adopted Vesta and kept that name for her also.  It means 'fire princess' or something.  Then along came Dylan with no name as he was found wandering around a parking lot with no tags.  The Hubby named him Dylan after Bob Dylan, as Bob was one of his guitar jamming buddies in The Village long before he was anyone and became brain dead. Yeah, we're OLD.

Well, let's see, there was Rex (Rusty Rex Guest), Suzie, Chandler, Phobe, Regis, Gwenhyvhar (Gwen for short), Bandit, and Fiesty. I think that's all of them. All but Suzie are cats, and Suzie is a dog.

Growing up we had male indoor- outdoor cats, Coffee and Smokey. When I moved
out into my own place, Sheba, a cute little angora mix kitten became my baby. I
witnessed her birth. She was the last one born and the runt of the litter.

Years later my daughter wanted a kitten and we adopted Scooter, a male orange tabby.
Scooter was with us for 17 years. After he died I thought I'd never have a cat again.
Wrong, I love my fur babies and adopted two male kittens... Charlie and Frankie. They
are tabby and blue pt lnyx mix. The boys are brothers, holy terrors and very lovable.

We sure all love our pets!!!  Hugs, Robin

My first pets were two bunnies, a white one named Snowball and a black one named Inky.  Then we got a cocker spaniel and named her Bridget.  After Bridget came our dachsund named Gretchen.   I had her for 14 years.

When I got married, we adopted a kitten and named him Dumplin.  Dumplin was lonely so we adopted another kitten, both were black, and named him Ignatius.  Then I had a water spaniel named Amy.  We adopted a cockapoo/schnauzer mix puppy and that was Samantha.  I had Samantha for 16 years and then I got Sabra.  BUT, we do have two feral cats, Mama Kitty and Roary, that I adore, too.  Yes, we do love our fur babies!

OH!  I forgot to mention my gorgeous black cat Punkin.  I had him for 18 years.  He was a sweetheart.

I remember having cats when I was little, but I can't remember their names except for Mickey. Who bit me when I was a baby. My grandfather kept taking him to farms, but he kept coming back.

The first dog that I ever had was Skippy. He got killed by a nearby german shepherd. Then somebody dropped off two dogs, I named them Candy and Missy. I kept Missy and found Candy a home. Missy had puppies so I kept one and named him Bandit Lee. He was white with a dark spot around his eyes. He got run over by a car. After that I got a german shepherd pup that I named Maverick. I also had cats called Panto, Casper and Matuse. Maverick also got hit by a car so then I got Chico another german shepherd. I always loved them. Then there was Boogie. After that I moved out and got a dog named Dashiki. My husband called her crapeater and she thought that was her name. She had pups and I kept one and named him Useless. Then we got Snapper and Buffy. I had four dogs. After them I got a dog that moved in out of nowhere and named her She. She was wild, I next got another german shepherd named Rebel. Then I got Chance who is 14 now. I also got Dharma who I lost last November and I now have Jasmine who I have had for one week now. She is an adorable german shepherd. I think that is it.

Hugs, Karen

When I was a teenager the family dog was a minature fox terrier named Timmy. He was more my dog than anything as he always
followed me around and slept by my feet every night.

The only pet I've owned myself was a cat my kids found when he was a baby. We named him Furrball and he was with us
for 14 years. When my daughter-in-law was in labor he walked right along with us, back and forth on the road to get the
labor pains going. He passed away about 5 years ago.

For a couple of years I "doggiesat" my son's 135 lb half rot, half black lab named Teddy. He was so strong that he was chained
out with a logging chain. He actually moved my 8x8' porch made out of landscape timbers.
