I was on a different board for a while and all everyone (well not everyone, but most) did was complain.  It was such a downer and this board is so refreshing.  People help everyone not just the "click" that has been around forever.

Yes people do comment on aches and pains on here BUT not about the day to day things that might go wrong that have nothing to do with fibro, well maybe sometimes but not an everyday thing.  I hope I am making myself clear, not usually too good writing what I mean.

Anyways, I am glad I found this forum

Denise,
You just found us at a good time. (LOL!) We all have our moments of whine... but usually someone comes along and offers us cheese to go with our whine and we snap out of it. I've actually been the longest member of this forum who is still active and I have to say that I don't think there is an inner circle. We have out old timers who have been coping forever and pretty much have come to terms with the darned disorder. We have our newbies who just got diagnosed and are thrashing around trying to find answers or a cure or some way to get away from the pain. We have our sillies who try to always be up beat and kind. We have our air heads (I'm one of these) who leave the plugs out of the boat and launch it into the lake... and see it sink! And we have our snake oil salespeople who want to tell us all the things that doctors won't!

Sharing and caring usually rules the day with an occasional dose of laughter and idiocy. This disorder isn't going to go away by itself... but you can't cry everyday either. Might as well dance! Take care.

Hey, I like my whine with cheese... and if you got any chocolate, I'll take that too...lol

Denise, this forum is like family, we all have our ups and downs and we all try to get
through it together. Some days we all tell tales of crazy fibro fog incidents, other days
we are welcoming newbies or helping one another through flares or sharing recipes.
I'm glad this forum is here, it sure has been a blessing for me.

Hi Denise!  I also belonged to another forum before I found this one and after describing my RLS symptoms and  asking a very benign question about how much magnesium to take for this disorder, a moderator replied with:  "I don't think you have RLS.  I think you have MS and you should get to a doctor and have an MRI with contrast immediately."  I replied by saying I had an MRI when I was first dx'd with fibro, furthermore I am 60 (at that time) years old and the doctor said it was highly unlikely to have initial onset MS at my age.  She continuted to send me web links about MS, which I never even opened...I about have a nervous breakdown by the time she was done with me.  I reported her to the administration and have never been back.

We do NOT scare the crap out of each other here, which is wonderful because so many of us have anxiety issues with Fibro.  I feel safe here and enjoy my wonderful fibro family.

I think being respectful to each other is the key to this forum. If someone joins and starts bashing another member they are out the door real quick.

When I first joined, the members that were here then and some are still here, found out I pretty much hadn't moved for three months except from bed to couch and back to bed they kept telling me I had to move, had to move they did it in a kind way that made me listen. If any of them had gotten snotty about it I'm sure I would have never gotten back on here. I thought they were all crazy, I didn't feel like moving, but for whatever reason I listened to them and I did slowly get some energy back. I'm sure not back to where I was this time three years ago and I'm sure I will never be but I have learned so much about this DD that I didn't know before I joined.

I mean that posters (usually the same handful) posted stuff like how bad it was at work and they were in so much pain or at work the boss ndid something that set off major pain.  I just don't get it, there HAS to be some days that are good.......

I know that we all have bad days, sometimes every day BUT the people here seem to have the attitude that when life gives them lemons they make lemonade yeah .  Yes, I overdid it and had a few days of major pain, gonna happen today too.   This is more my way of thinking and I am glad I found this forum!!

My intention was not to make anyone double think when they have flares.  I can't have the wine but I sure will take the cheese.tongue

I'm glad you are here, too!  I find that if I complain all the time, I'm in more pain, more misery, and no one wants to be around me!  So, I don't do that anymore.  I just accept fibro for what it is, keep trying things to help me, and pass on the info here to help others.  But, sometimes we do have to vent and let it all hang out.  I think we all have done that!  But, I'm glad you like it here.  So do I.  We do have wonderful members and we do really care about each other, too.  I'm glad you found us!

By the way, I'm one of the silly ones that Jeannie was talking about and Marlee is one of the old ones.  devil

Did you read my post where I thought some of you were crazy when I joined Sherrine??? Guess who I was talking about??? devil Many days if it wasn't for my sense of humor I would curl up in a ball in a corner somewhere and probably never come back out. Life is too short to waste it all on self pity. But I do have my moments but I can't let them last long.
