Good Morning,

I know my body, and I feel like there is more going on at this point than my fibro. My pinky fingers always hurt and feel warm to the touch, last night I was sitting on the couch on my computer and my hips felt like sharp pains like someone was driving a steak thru them. It hurt so bad, it was a stabbing type pain. I put heat on it, but it didn't really help. So I went to bed, woke up and my hands were half numb and half pulsating with pain. I got up put the pain patches (lidoderm or something like that?) on my hips and back, put some bio-freeze on my shoulders and arms and knees since they were all hurting and warm to the touch too. Then went back to sleep.
I'm trying to stay calm about it, as my husband says getting all stressed out and worrying about it will not make it better. So since I have an appointment already scheduled with my current rheumy, on April the 1st, I am going to run this new stuff by her and see what she says. My new appt for the new rheumy is not until May 3rd so for now, I hope my current rheumy can run some tests or x-rays or something to figure out what is going on.

Hope you all have a great day!!

Sounds like you could have some arthritis going on too. I hope that you find out what it is. Let us know how the appointment goes. Though fibro can mimic many other ailments, it still sounds a little like arthritis. Especially with the burning and swelling. Is it mostly in the joints?

Let us know what is going on.

Hugs, Karen

Hopegirl, You know that stress will cause more pain. If you do have arthritis there are
a number of over the counter NSAIDS that help with the inflammation. Advil, Motrin and
Aleve are a few. You shouldn't take these without checking with your doctor if you are
on meds.

Your rheumy will take x-rays and do bloodwork if he thinks you have arthritis. I have
it and tell myself it is another pain, by another name. There are good prescription meds
for it. If you do have it, you will be able to deal with it. We are stronger than we think!

Sending gentle hugs your way, and try not to worry!

I agree with the thought that maybe arthritis, especially since it feels warm to the touch.  about the hip pain.....I have that too but only the right hip, It comes and goes but when it is here it hurts like the dickens.  Your rheumy will probably run some bloodwork to check for arthritis.  Let us know what the outcome is.

I'm afraid that it may be arthritis too. I know if it is, then like you all have said, I will deal with it. My hands feet and neck seem to give me constant trouble, my back sometimes, my legs sometimes and the icky flu feeling well, we all know that, it tends to be there unless I take the tramadol.

Hi Hopegirl. I have arthritis also. The weather really affects both it and my fibro. I have "arthur" in both of my hips and just about everywhere else. I hope you find out what is going on with you. It can be awful frustrating at times. Let us know what the dr says. Good luck.

My hands, neck, shoulders, back, and sometimes my feet (toes and ankles) bother me.  If I close my hand and then try to open it again, some fingers stick and pop and I usually have to manually straighten one finger out.

My toes usually give me a problem in the winter.  This year they didn't.  My doctor thought I had gout but gout, if left untreated, will go away in about two weeks, according the the sites I've read.  But my toes hurt for at least six months and then gradually got better.

Necks and backs are generally pretty constant complaints for fibromites.  I have that too.  Sometimes my knees hurt and my hips hurt.  But, guess what?  I do not have arthritis!  Please try to stop thinking about this all of the time.  The stress isn't helping you one bit.
