I got my doc to write me a script for a tens unit, (electrical stimulation).  I am sitting here with it on.  It is really, really neat.  I think I asked about this a week or so ago, duhh.....can I say fibro fog?

Anyway, I can put the leads where I want them and when I get used to the current I can turn it up.  Hopefully when I am done in 20 minutes or so my shoulders will be more relaxed.  In the other headache thread everybody described the same shoulder tension that turns into the headache.

My chiro firmly believes the headache is from the atlas / axis bones at the base of the skull being twisted & honestly he has been treating that same thing for the last 2 or 3 years.  Sometimes my neck holds the adjustment and sometimes the stress just pops it out and I can actually feel it sometimes.

I also bought this hardish foam tube thingy that you roll your body on.  It actually exercises the arms and works out some of the knots in the legs and butt.

I asked for a tens unit and I guess the doctor's request got lost and I never got it. Do you like it a lot? Does using the foam tuby thingy hurt?

Hey Sue...one day when you're feeling miserable, call that doctor's office and ask why your request was never honored. I'd love to hear their answer...excuse is more like it. Just something fun to do when you are feeling ornery...lol

For the tens unit I got the script and called a company myself.  The company got it authorized by my ins and delivered it!!  The foam tube is pretty kool, it did hurt my calves where there are knots which is part of the idea to break up the knots.

Do you have to have a Doctor's order to get one of these or is it something you can order on your own maybe online?

A friend of mine just bought one on his own.  Don't know where he got it but he paid around 225.00.  I know he did not get it online cause he is computer challenged

Word of warning!!! Never cross the spinal column with the leads! This can lead to permanent injury. Be sure to read all of the information that comes with your unit. Dear Daughter (who does PT) says these things can do real damage if used incorrectly. Take care.

I got mine from medicalproductsonline.com without a script a couple of years ago. I WAS using it on each side of my spine as close to the hairline as I could get it til Jeannie scared me and now I don't know where to put it for the upper neck pain I have. Guess I could try reading the instruction booklet, huh smilewinkgrin

Mine has four leads to it and the unit and 10 extra packs of pads only cost about $100.00. You can reuse the pads for quite awhile before the sticky is gone.

luv and hugs

I didn't need RX. I ordered mine on amazon.com. I got a cheap one for like 50 dollars I think. It has just two lead though. I use it from time to time, but mostly it's just a distraction from the pain. I use the roller on my glutes and sides of hips and thighs and, yes, it does hurt quite a bit.
