Hi! I'm new here, been lurking a few weeks, now I'm a member! I have Fibromyalgia and was just confirmed as having it about a month ago. I've known for most of my life that something was off, and have wondered for a few years if it was Fibromyalgia, the only other thing that the doctor has found so far is low vit. D levels, which I know is a common thing among Fibro people. I sense other things are going on with me, but time will tell. Only my husband and a few of his family members know, I don't want my familys pity, they would never understand! My biggest struggle right now is my sleeping, I have not been sleeping well for years and am REALLY tired all of the time! Enough for now, iPhone batts are low! Nice to be here!

Welcome Silent! I'm glad you found us. I am new myself here and new to my fibro diagnosis too. You will find alot of wonderful, caring people here, I know I did! It also helps so much to know that we are not alone. Take care.
Gentle Hugs,

Welcome, SilentStorm.
Sorry you have to be here, but glad you found this place.  I've had Fibro perhaps forever too, don't really know, but have had the diagnosis for 18 years.  I've had a great, supportive doctor for the same amount of time and a mostly supportive, loving family (one of my adult kids still doesn't/won't get itshakehead

But I can't tell you how much it's helped me to be able to come on here and communicate back and forth with people who not only care, but truly understand!!  idea  If it didn't make me sorer, I'd be on here for long periods at a time - but that doesn't work.  Got to get up after a few minutes,  use different muscles, (even if that means just walking around the house instead of sitting) come back in a little while.  You will find so much help here.  And you can help others, because you also "get" their pain, fatigue, sleeplessness, etc. etc.  Of course, we're all different, but we have lots in common.  Sleep well!

welcome SilentStorm29, has your doctor prescribed anything to help you sleep at night? I know it takes time to get the right medications that will work specifically for you and for what you need. I am in the same shape with not being able to sleep, I was just put on cymbalta 2 weeks ago, and it has helped some, I have an appt on the 27th and am going to ask her about True Calm since I've seen it mentioned here. I do take flexeril but hate to take that everyday, I don't want to become immune to it either.

Hi there Silent Storm,

I am so happy that you found us. Welcome!!! I am sorry that you have fibro though.

I take ambien for sleep. But the company changed and it was making me groggy so I switched to melatonin which really does help. You can get it over the counter. It is a hormone that we start losing in our 30's. So it is truly safe. You might want to give that a try.

I hope that you start to feel better soon. And yes, check out fibro101. It is the second thread on the forum.

Take care my new friend.

Hugs, Karen

Thank you all for a kind welcome! Yes, I read the Fibro 101, very good info there! I tried Ambian for sleep, and it helped, but I was walking, talking, and doing the crazyiest things and never remembering them in the morning! I ended up sitting in front of the fridge one night and was found in front of it begging for juice, cup in the air! Lol.....Ambian CR helps, but is not as effective as the reg Ambian. Most days the fibro fog is my ever constant friend, like today, and I need to go food shopping! Panic....I hope I don't walk off with a strangers cart again! Lol... rolleyes

Hi Silent,
I use the True Calm and Nite Time Herbs both by NOW brand and they help tremendously. I have arthritis, fibro, baker's cysts,
lypoma tumors and all sorts of other exciting things. I usually use herbals and only resort to dr meds when I absolutely have to.
It's a good place here at Healing Well and there are some neat people here who help whenever possible.
