I have a strange question.  I have been wearing the same necklace for some time.  Recently it feels like it is pinching me or there is a piece of metal sticking into my skin.  When I looked at the necklace, it was fine.  Does anyone have a sensitivity to wearing jewelry?  Maybe I am paranoid, but just curious.  This disease is so strange and quirky! rolleyes

Thanks,
Lisa

I have certain necklaces I can no longer wear, because they "irritate" my skin. I don't get rashes or anything...the necklaces literally just don't feel good anymore.

I'm also hypersensitive to any type of clothing tag touching me, particularly ones in a waistband or on a neckline. The ones on the side seam on either the right or left side of a shirt aren't as bad, but still bug me.
Conditions: Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pelvic Pain, Femoralacetabular Impingement (CAM and Pincer), Reynauds, IBS, Interstitial Cystitis, Surgical Adhesions, Ophthalmic Migraines, Severe Hot Flashes (both Surgical Menopause and medication related), plus physically unable to vomit due to the Nissen, and I have extremely tiny veins with a lot of scar tissue...a joy when it comes to having to give blood or get an IV started

Surgeries: Appendix, Uterus, Nissen Fundoplication for GERD, Left Ovary, Gallbladder, Right Ovary, TVT

Medications: Oxycontin, Cesamet, Tramacet, Cymbalta, Flexeril and Clonidine plus Laxaday, Vitamin D and a Multi-Vitamin daily

I can't wear necklaces or earrings, even my rings (2) have days when they seem to irritate me. Don't wear a watch and when I did it had to be loose.
If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you won't.
I may not do things like other people, but I get things done in my own way, in my own time.

I used to love to wear jewelry, but as the yrs have passed I'm not able to wear much of anything. My hands swell overnight, so I can't wear my ring. My skin also gets a rash from jewelry. I generally don't wear my ring and watch unless I'm going out. I used to have a great collection of earrings, then my ears would swell and burn even after about 5 min after putting on the earrings. I have a pearl necklace that I will wear for a special event, but it doesn't stay on long.

I have to know what time it is, so I would like to wear my watch, but that has been a problem thru the yrs. My 'good' watches would die on my wrist, now I just get a cheapy from WalMart.

I also have a problem w/ tags on my shirts and pants. I'm just a delicate little flower. smilewinkgrin

God bless.  Alice.

Wow, talk about mental telepathy!  I was thinking about posting this very question tonight!  I love jewelry, but like all of you, I don't wear it much.  I've had my ears re-pierced about 4 times because they always get sore and bloody, or close up really quickly.  I told myself if I have problems again, that's it!! nono As it is, I've been wearing the same piercing studs for about 4 months, and probably will for a year, to be on the safe side.

Necklaces make my neck cold, unless I'm wearing a turtleneck (which I am about 7 months out of the year)  rolleyes  or it's really hot out.  Who would have dreamed THAT back in the day??  My favorite kinds are made of stones, but not only are they really cold, they're often heavy, and of course that makes them out of the question.

And labels, scratchy fabric, anything that is irritating will NOT be tolerated!  I have enough pain and discomfort without putting up with that crap!  turn

Yep, I can't wear any jewelry aside from my wedding band and very small gold earrings. Tags, seams, scratchy fabric, tight waistbands, etc. have all been a problem for me for quite some time. No jewelry, no panty hose, no "cute" shoes or heels, no real jeans. I can't even buy tops with appliques or jewels/metal studs (which seem to pretty popular right now) because I can feel them on the inside.

I pretty much wear soft cotton, elastic waistbands, and comfy shoes. Fortunately, there are some clothes I have found that don't make me look too frumpy. :-)

Austen you said it all, my family look at me stangely if I even think about wearing something different.
My mil does not understand that I can only wear cotton or I come out in a rash.

My ears have been pierced for 30 years and they will still grow together if I leave my studs out for too long. They won't grow all the way together, but it is still uncomfortable to push the earring through.
