I just got my new denture partial two days ago. It irritates me something fierce. I only have 2 teeth on it. I guess it's called a Flipper. I don't know if I will ever get use to eating with it.
I've been noticing when I wear it I turn from very whitewash pale to a light pink and then a dark pink and I'm running to the bathroom to do a #2. to put it politly. Now I did have a tooth pulled the same day as I got my partial put in.

Has anyone had the same or similar problems getting use to dentures/partials?

Hara - I'm happy about getting it but it rakes over my nerves trying to keep the thing in and then trying to get the thing out. confused

I didn't know where else to write this.

Hi Hara!

You are welcome to write this here...no problem. I don't have any experience with dental plates but I'm sure it's frustrating. I did search a bit to try and understand what this is and found something interesting. I'll quote it here:

"While a dental flipper is meant to be temporary, some people wear them for years. They press somewhat on the gums and so are not very healthy for the gums. They also break easily, and it can be difficult to eat with them-they may not be strong enough to eat on and may have to be removed for meals."

Maybe if you were to take them out when you ate it would help? Just a thought. I do hope you have better success with time. Keep us posted,

hi hara this web site is great and any and all your questions will be answered http://denturesanewsmile.ning.com/forum/categories/general-1/listForCategory?sort=mostRecentDiscussions
What I do know is that I probably could have avoided having all my teeth taken out .I was told that because of having anorexia I had heartburn a lot and with burping comes acid and the acid decays your teeth. But I have come to find out that the other reason is I never followed up with the testing of Sjogerns disease either,This was another reason why I had my teeth all pulled out. My mouth was always dry,,so dry that i had very little salvia and couldn't even lick a stamp.
I agree with chutz that they are not too healthy for the gums. I hate wearing mine because they are just so unconfortable. And since I finally was dignosed with Sjogerns, the dentist told me that because my immune system was low that I could easily get an infection where the dentures  press upon my gums. So when I am home i keep them out.
My suggestion is to take a look at the group I posted because I am sure that you will get many replies to all your questions.
Also if you have them in when eating, make sure you rinse out your mouth or take them out to do it.
I hope these are all you will ever have to get

If I had learned how to type in the first place that would be good. I have found out that I can eat better with my flipper out than in. It is very uncomfortable to wear. I'm going to the denturist in two weeks. I have a very hard time getting it out. If I don't get it in right it hurts my mouth something feirce. But I was able to eat sliced cucumbers today. So I'm progressing. I do take it out when I get home only my son has to see me then. I think because it's something foreign in my mouth I'm not going to be use to it.  Thanks

HARA
