Mary, I think it is normal to be somewhat concerned when you are waiting for a diagnosis.
I was, I knew I didn't feel right; had lots of aches, pains and overwhelming fatigue.

It is important that you give your doctor a complete list of your symptoms. Bloodwork
and neurological exams can rule things out. Everything takes time, so you have to do
what you can do to keep your stress down. Try not to worry and take one day at a time.

Mary, I only take one day at a time. Unfortunately I have many diagnoses, but I try
to stay positive and I am happy. There are far worse things in this world and I consider
myself fortunate. This forum helps me along with a great husband ,family and friends.

Mary, I have Crohn's and a few other things besides fibro and I have had a wonderful life.  Don't let fear get into the mix.  That just magnifies your pain and can even affect the Crohn's.

I used to worry about everything and found out I had made myself miserable for no real reason.  Most of my worries were for naught.  Why waste the time and energy?  I am 63 years old and have never heard of worrying helping a single thing!  It's never cured an illness or fixed a problem.  It only makes you sick.

I also used to read a family medical book that I had in my possession and I would take on the symptoms of the illnesses!  Yes, nerves and anxiety can do that!  I was convinced I had other ailments and then I realized what that stupid book was doing to me.  It was VERY difficult for me to throw the book away, but I did and have done great since.  I rarely have anxiety now!

You need to trust your doctor.  You should sit down with him/her and let them know what is going through your mind.  I imagine tests have already been performed to rule out those other illnesses!  That's how a diagnosis of fibro is given!

So, try to relax and start enjoying your life again.  You will work with your doctor and find what works to get control of your pain.  Then you can move forward and leave the worrying behind you.
Feel better, Mary.

Ok so far this tear I have had 2 brain scans, 3 abdominal /pelvic cat scans(crohns),snal bowel follow through,colonoscopy,endoscopy,x-rays of joints, and tons and tons of blood work. Now  I have all of these joint and muscle pains and donta want anymore tests. Has anyone here had other testing. I have been tested for ra(negative) and then just the regulat blood tests. I also have muscle twitching which actually have had for years due to severe anxiety. I get somethig called Levator Ani syndrome (spasm of muscle in the back area). Ugh I cant take this anymore.

Mary, it is frustrating I know, and feel like the testing will never end, the long waits for
tests results. At one point I decided I am only as happy as I want to be, I was sick of
all the testing , confusion and running all over town for appointments with specialists.

I continued to go to my appointments and looked at it as my job. I knew I had to go
but did it with an attitude change. I started joking about going to "work". My calendar
a couple of years ago was always full.

Worry used to be my constant companion and it was driving me crazy. It was only after I
realized that my worry couldn't change the outcome of anything. If it was meant to be,
it was meant to be. I am actually more relaxed now than I ever was.

You are stronger than you think!!!

Robin you seem like an awesome person. I have a great fear of dying. My brother died of a brain tumor at 41, they thought it was a sinus infection. Now everything I get I think I will die from it. I really am hopinf it is fibromyalgia even though it hurts it wont kill me.

to cancer. He was 50. I no longer fear death. I have become alot more spiritual in recent
years. I believe the best is yet to come! Wishing you the best!

Mary,

If you have any questions about symptoms or testing for MS, let me know.  MS is a bit like fibro.....it won't kill you so you learn to live with it.  My friend lost her mom to cancer and she is just like you!  She is very anxious about her health now.  I am very sorry to hear about your brother.

When I was first sick, they doctor said we need rule out brain cancer or a brain tumor.  It ended up I was actually relieved to find it was MS.

I started having symptoms back when I was a teen. Was in and out of the dr. all the time not feeling well. In my early 20's I got worse. I had an endoscopy and many other tests that showed I had IBS. I just knew I had something like chron's disease or cancer. I thought there is no way I can feel this bad and not be dying. The pain and fatigue became a more serious problem along with depression. I have had a lot more tests that cost a lot of money. I nearly broke my family. I finally learn to deal with it for a few years, Then back in 05 I was hit with the worst pain and fatigue. That is when I was diagnosed with FM. It all made sense to me then. All these years it had been FM. I wish I had known more about FM back in those days.

I understand the worry and anxiety. I am in pain now and worry could there be something else going on.

I hope that you feel better soon Mary.
I struggle with FM,Raynauds Syndrome, gastroparesis, IBS and depression. I trust in God with all things. Been a tough journey and it's not getting any easier but thanks to God and my family I am not alone.
