My shoulders are killing me and the pain runs down my arms. I go on Thursday to see waht the reumatologist says hope she doesnt' want anymore tests. She really didn't perform the trigger point test on me just blood and x-rays. I am going on vacation this weekend and want to feel good. Any ideas to make me feel better?

Hot showers and a Bed Buddy.  You can get them at Walgreen's and other places.  Or, you can make your own by taking a tube sock, filling it 2/3's full of raw long grain rice, and tying a knot at the end.  Pop it in the microwave and it will give off moist heat due to the moisture in the rice.

Mary, as Sherrine said...bring a bedbuddy. If you are traveling a distance in the car
be sure to stop to do some gentle stretching. Good luck at the rheumys and have a
great vacation!

I hurt in the shoulders and down my arms all the time. My neck always hurts too and is very stiff. I just ordered a bed buddy and am waiting for it to come in. I also use a muscle rub called Sombra that I feel works better than the other OTC creams. It gets deep into my muscles. A chiropractor I used to work for uses it and that's what got me using it.

I have Sombra too.  My massage therapist gave it to me.  Works great!

Hi Mary,
I also have alot of pain in my shoulders and up my neck which gives me horrible headaches. I also take hot showers and use a bed buddy. When it is unbearable, I also take a muscle relaxant. I also try to massage the area when I can. I hope that helps you.

Hi Mary!

I don't think we've met yet....Welcome to our Fibro Family! I'm another one of those who has terrible shoulder/neck pain. It can come from lots of places so testing might be the only way your rheumy can find out. But IMHO it's easier to treat the problem when you know what it is. If it's from fibro then the different tips and tricks we all share are your best recourse, unless you are taking medications for the pain. But if your pain is from a pinched nerve or arthritis in the neck area then at least you have some other options to alleviate the pain. Either way I'm glad you have joined us!
