Well I have written I am at our local Show anyhow they where giving out a free massage so I had read how many of us with fibro had found it great. Years ago I tried a massage and had to walk away because of the pain. Well it has not changed for me one bit it seemed to lst for hours but it was only a few seconds and I had too get him too stop. He told me I must do a lot of heavey lifting as my right should muscel was very tight. No I just have Fibromyalgia and please don't touch me again I can't stand the pain.
The pain well it felt like someone had stabbed me in every spot he had touched me. Now yes I was in pain before he touched me. But that was my legs I came home and had a hot bath and pain killers it took hours for that pain too ease off.
So again I am back to the don't touch me it hurts.

I'm sorry. I went to a Chriopractor a few years ago and he has a woman give massages and I hurt for 2 days afterwards and when I told him I wouldn't be back because I couldn't move he offered to give me a free adjustment and message. I told him thanks but no thanks.

Hope you get to feeling better.

You need massage therapists who have studied how to give a person with fibromyalgia a massage.  It HAS to be a gentle massage.  I get a monthly massage and it helps me soooo much.  I tried stopping them for several months for financial reasons and got all knotted up in pain again.  That is something I can't give up.

Here is a link to the American Massage Therapy Association where the people are licensed and have to take classes yearly in order to continue to be in this organization.  You can find a good massage therapist here.  I would also ask if they work on fibro clients.

Kathy, there might be a similar organization in Australia.

I can't imagine getting a massage. I can barely handle a hug from my family.
I struggle with FM,Raynauds Syndrome, gastroparesis, IBS and depression. I trust in God with all things. Been a tough journey and it's not getting any easier but thanks to God and my family I am not alone.

Sheila, hugs hurt me, too.  Gentle massages don't.  I don't understand it but that is what happens with me.

My psychologist gives massages as part of her therapy. And she is so gentle that it feels really good. She knows that I have fibromyalgia so she does it extra light. I hope that you can find somebody like that and experience that.

By the way, has anybody ever had a cranial (sp)? I know somebody who does them and I am tempted, but I hear that your head moves all over the place and I am worried about my neck.

Hugs, Karen
