I'm reading in my "Fibromyalgia for Dummies" book that moving to a warm, dry climate like AZ may not be for every firbomite out there.  I remember reading someone's post about their husband wanting to relocate and thought I'd mention it before thwy went and spend all that moeny moving or vacationing with high hopes that this could be the solution to at least one problem.

Hi @rriana!

You do bring up a very good point. If I had to live in AZ I'd be miserable because of the heat. Not everyone enjoys very warm climates and extreme heat is not helpful to a lot of people. Fibromyalgia sufferers don't do well with extremes of any sort...extreme cold, damp, heat, you name it. Our bodies can amplify pain from any source and with any of the extremes we can suffer.

As to the Valley Fever...I "can" be deadly but...I wouldn't let that stop me from moving to the SW if I wanted to go there. The entire SW, where it's hot and dry, 'can' be breeding grounds for Valley Fever. Data from the Arizona Department of Health shows that less than 1%... that's less than 1 in 100... people who contract Valley Fever actually die from this fungal lung infection.

I live in hot, dry California. I feel much better than when I was in the Midwest. Changes in the weather really aggravate my symptoms, so with all the storms, rain, and then the cold, I felt bad most of the time. It gets hot here but I just stay in air conditioning during hot times.

Valley Fever, oh my goodness one more thing for me to worry about smhair We already have black widow spiders, rattlesnakes, fire ants, killer bees, scorpions, rats that eat the citrus on the trees, and earthquakes. Still love it here though tongue
