Hi Lostnomad - I know exactly what you are talking about... In fact, you could be writing about my situation... I always get up when I am experiencing this type of situation. I turn on the tv and get comfy - depending on what is bothering you, I find that propping myself up on the back of the couch helps sometimes. My doctor prescribed me Elavil (I'm in Canada) and this medication has been a godsend! It helps me with my sleeping issue - I get a pretty restful sleep now. It can also help with depression.
Do you drink coffee or tea after dinner? I find that if I have a coffee in the evening -my brain races too!
Do you have any type of medication specifically for sleeping?
