I have had a cold 2 times in the past 6 weeks. Just wondering if anyone here gets sick more often. I also have Crohn's which could be the problem.

Mary, when I was younger, it seems like I was sick all the time with cold and flu viruses, sinus infections, etc. This has gotten better with time. I am still susceptible to stomach viruses and get an occasional sinus infection, but it is not nearly as bad as before. I think that part of the problem may have been that I was working outside of the home in the past. I now run a child care center out of my home. Although kids often get sick, I find that it helps me to wash my hands often, and to do sinus irrigations each night. I was also eating a lot of fast food before, and my diet is now more balanced.

Often people mistake allergies for a cold. You might be suffering from allergies as you said that you had one twice in two weeks. My doctor gives me samples for allergy medication. You might want to check this out and then you have something to work with. Also I think it is called Zycam is good to ward off a cold.

I hope that you feel better soon.

Hugs, Karen

I hardly ever get sick (knock on wood) and I run a chronically low white blood count also so I don't think it is a fibro thing you're dealing with. Karen might be onto something with that allergy idea. It is that time of year when everything is starting to bloom. Hope you are feeling better very soon and stay that way for a long time to come.

If I can laugh at it, I can live with it.

No, I rarely get sick - in fact, I'm the healthiest person I know outside of my medical issues.

I almost never get colds, I haven't had the flu in decades, I've had no infections for years and's amazing. I wish I was healthy enough to enjoy it! It's a good thing too, as I can't physically vomit since I had the Nissen Fundoplication surgery for GERD in 2004. If I was ever so ill that I had severe vomiting, I would have to go to the hospital and have them pump my stomach or something, plus they'd have to dose me up big time with Gravol.

Mary, I hope you're getting some time to relax and de-stress with all the information you've received here. How are you feeling overall, now that so many of your questions have been answered? Keep your chin up...things have a way of turning out better than you can imagine.

Conditions: Fibromyalgia, Severe Myofascial Pain, Chronic Pelvic Pain (with permanent muscle damage), Femoralacetabular Impingement (CAM and Pincer), Reynauds, IBS, Surgical Adhesions, Ophthalmic Migraines, Severe Hot Flashes (both Surgical Menopause and medication related), plus physically unable to vomit due to the Nissen, and I have extremely tiny veins with a lot of scar tissue...a joy when it comes to having to give blood or get an IV started

Surgeries: Appendix, Uterus, Nissen Fundoplication for GERD, Left Ovary, Gallbladder, Right Ovary, TVT

Medications: Oxycontin, Cesamet, Tramacet, Cymbalta, Flexeril and Clonidine plus Laxaday, Vitamin D and a Multi-Vitamin daily

Yes I get everything that comes my way.  I wash my hands like a fiend and spray everything I can with bleach or lysol.  I have 4 grandkids and they bring tons of stuff home form school.  Stomach bugs, the runs and cramps.......IBS maybe?  I have been tested twice for parasites which can cause the above.
I even got cat scratch fever from a kitten scratch, honest.   I went to the ER for that. Bacterial  Pneumonia a few months ago.
Lots of sore throats that I think are from allergies affecting my sinuses BUT from the nasal drip I get a sore throat which often turns into bronchitis.
I am seriously sick & tired of being sick & tired tongue
