My results came back from my bloodwork today. I've been officially diagnosed with hypothyroidism. In a way, I'm kind of relieved. My fatigue has been through the roof lately, (worse then my fibro has been in the past), and I was scared it was just fibro and there was no hope. Now that there is something treatable, I have every hope in the world that it will get better.

I'm right, aren't I?

Please tell me I am!

Sarah, I don't know too much about hypothyroidism except that it is due to an underactive
thyroid caused by a hormone deficiency. I was tested for that and it came back negative.

Once your hormone level is back up you should start feeling better. Sorry you have another
dx added to your list. Take Care!!!

Sarah,
I sure hope so because I want to be tested for the same thing! I was on Synthroid for about 10 years way back in the day, but lately I get the worst weak, shakey feeling sometimes, usually every day. What kind of fatigue do you get, and did you have other symptoms too? I hope it helps you.

Sarah, I was dx'd with low thyroid back in the late 70's. I was so fatigued all of the time. My skin was dry and itchy, I had gained some weight and I was depressed. I didn't go to the doctor until my hair started falling out by the roots. My hairdresser was the one who told me I needed to go to the doctor. I've been on Synthroid ever since. After 6 weeks most of the symptoms were gone. The tiredness I felt then was way more than the tiredness I feel now. I had trouble staying awake in church back then. If I was driving I felt sometimes like I couldn't continue to drive, like I needed to pull over and sleep.

Synthroid has helped me a lot and I have not had to increase the dosage even after all these years. I do have a blood test twice a year to make sure my dosage is right.

Robin - Thanks! I hope I do feel better. Hypothyroid + fibro = well, hell. lol

Achey -My main symptoms have been fatigue (to the point where I'm always tired), depression, weakness, and dizziness/lightheadedness. And I'd def get checked. It's just simple bloodwork, and it's always better to check and see.

Puppylover - With the exception of the hair loss, that sounds like how I've been feeling. I'm so glad it's helped you, and I sure hope it does the same for me!
