Well, we're beginning to get close enough to the weekend to almost see it! Makes me happy anyway. If the weather was a bit better I'd love to pack a picnic and take hubby for a Sunday drive (ok, he can do the driving wink ) and take our dog and cameras. Here in NW Washington state we're getting rain regularly and it's still so cold there is no way a tomato plant would grow even if you begged it with steer manure tea!...lol tongue

But I'm going to assume the weather is going to be nice and am going to plan this picnic anyway. Worst case scenario is we eat it at home by the fire! Yes, I'm still building a fire in the woodstove on occasion, it's that cold! Anyway, if you were going on a picnic what would you pack? This could be with a spouse,S/O, kids, a friend or family member...or just take yourself and go out to people watch. shocked scool

I think I'll make this a light lunch and we'll go for crackers and some nice cheese. We had some Wensleydale with cranberries a while back and for those who are Wallace and Gromit fans, it IS really good. And our favorite crackers for spreading at the lite Ritz or whole wheat Ritz. Must have some fresh fruit to go with a lunch like this! Some melon sounds wonderful and maybe a little watermelon. I can cube up some of each and put it in also. Hmmm, must have some sweets to top off the lunch. How about homemade soft and chewy ginger cookies. Like a ginger snap minus the 'snap'. tongue Let's add to that some water and maybe a diet soda or two and we're set...except for puppy. She has her own lunch bag and in there she has a folding water bowl, a tub or two of doggie dinners...you know, those ones made as a meal for little dogs, about the size of a small can of cat food. A couple of those make a great appetizer for her!..lol But I'll take some extra lettuce and some apple for her..she LOVES raw veggies and fruits, even oranges and romaine lettuce!

OK, our lunch is packed for a weekend drive. What are you going to pack in your picnic basket?

I think I would take some of my husband's bbq ribs. Not that he has bbq ribs, but he cooked some the other day. Plus cut up a cantelope too.

By the way Chutz, I have a dog that loves oranges too. Too funny. but can't hurt her...

I think a nice bottle of wine would be in order here too. Maybe some potato salad. And cheese and crackers of course. Maybe some potato chips to go with. I didn't figure in a vegie, but some pasta salad would go good too.

Why do we always end up talking about food? It ends up in many of my converstations. Must just be a good subject...

Take care all,

Enjoy this picnic.

It is cooler here today and windy. This weather is the pits. It changes so rapidly. Yesterday it rained some. We needed it. But I thought it would be warm and sunny here today but I guess that I was wrong.

I just watered some of my plants. I picked up two rosemary plants and a heliotrope the other day. One of the rosemary plants has little blue flowers on it. I am so pleased with them. Just hope that I don't kill them. Last year I got a rosemary and put it into the greenhouse and it got too hot. So this year I am keeping them in my window sill.

Take care all.

Hugs, Karen

I love the idea of packing a picnic lunch and heading out to a quiet, scenic place. My
hubby and I have done it often throughout the years. Sometimes we pack a cold lunch
or bring the small grill. When the weather is warmer, folding lawn chairs and a blanket
is a staple in the car trunk.

The weather has been in the 90's, so a shady spot in the mountains is an ideal spot
for our picnic. Being so warm, I'd pack cold club sandwiches, made with shaved turkey,
ham, cheese and tomato...chips, grapes, a can of cashews and chocolate brownies.
I love root beer, so some of that too!

Hope everyone can enjoy a relaxing picnic soon...Hugs,Robin
