I recently quit taking amytriptyline at nite...I was taking 100 mg every nite to help with sleep...it was d'cd a week ago....last nite and the night before I would wake up in the night drenched in sweat. The past two days, i couldnt tolerate the heat outside...i would have a sunburnt feeling all over. Even in the house in air conditioning, I have to sit around with no clothes because of this feeling. I would be so hot but my skin would be cold and clammy. Is this medication withdraw or fibro? thanks for the input!

Hi Notlovinit,

I am not sure, but wanted to say that I had been having hot flashes the last few weeks, though they finally stopped. Wondered what your age was in case it was hormone related.

I hope that it goes away soon. And that you are feeling better.

It very well could be a med withdrawal, have you talked to the doctor about it? I would ask them or the pharmacist.

Best wishes to you.

Hugs, Karen

Dunno about you, but I can't stand the heat outside and then when I'm in the AC I can sweat a bit or suddenly freeze as well. And I don't believe I'm suffering any kind of withdrawal. Still, I think Karen's got the best idea. Call the doc or pharmacist.

My hormone levels were just checked two weeks ago and they ruled out menopause. I am working on a long list of things to ask my doctor. Thank you both!

It is good to write a list. If I don't I always forget to ask something. Keep hydrated. I do take a medication that if I start sweating a lot I am suppose to let the doctor know.

Take care,

Hugs, Karen
