Hi, I am new the boards (27 years old, female) and hoping to get some advice from you guys! I've had fibro for about 4 years now and have been dealing with some pretty bad back and side pain while sleeping for the last few months. Has anyone experienced this? I'm not on any medication now for fibro and am not sure if this is a sign I need to go back on? The pain is in my lower back and sides of my chest. It physically hurts to take a deep breath. Has anyone else dealt with this same kind of pain?

Hi, Curlyq, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  Yes, I have that pain.  Mine is from something called costochondritis.  Many with fibro suffer with this, too.  My doctor has me taking ibuprofen with food for it and it does help some.
With fibro, if you sit or lay too much, you will be stiff as a board.  We usually are very stiff and sore upon waking in the morning.  Back, shoulder, and neck pain are generally there.  The pain wakes me up at night if I move.  Consequently, I don't move when I sleep now.  My bed is neat as a pin!
Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibromyalgia and you will learn a lot there.  There is a link all about costochondritis in Fibro 101 so you might want to read that and see if it sounds like what you are experiencing.  Also, don't hesitate to ask questions.  We are here to help you.  I hope to hear more from you soon.

I dont have chosto and the only time I have felt like that it was pneumonia. With the pneumonia though the pain was there all the time and didnt ease up at all.

Hi curlyq, welcome.
I have a different pain while sleeping. I think it is from tensing up because of the pain. I wake up feeling just awful. But since my dr gave me muscle relaxers, that has helped a lot. I only take the muscle relaxers before bed and it helps me fall asleep and keeps me from tensing muscles all night long. That helps with the pain.

Glad you found us.
