I know alot of people here take Vitamin D.  Is there a sublingual available that anyone knows of?

I use the tiny 2000 unit gel pills. In the winter my D level was 18. From the paper I read, which said for every unit of D you are low you need 100 units of D, that means I need 4000 units a day. I take 2k in the morning, another in the afternoon if I haven't been working out in the sun. It helped some with the fibro pain right away.

I got my husband to take one pill a day and it cleared up the brown spots on his legs, which were very old marks from bumps and bruises.

Thanks for the info. Alcie.  Is this a sublingual that you take?

Libby, I take 2000 IU gelcaps like Alcie and if they're the same ones then, no, they're not sublingual, you have to swallow them. Maybe you should ask your doctor or pharmacist where you can get sublingual Vitamin D.

I get my vitamins at Puritan.com and they do have a liquid form of vitamin D, if you are interested in that.  I know some people have a hard time taking pills.

You can probably snip open the tiny capsules, but they're REALLY small. They come in tablets too, probably can be crushed, but not sublingual. It's an oil, so probably doesn't get through mucous membranes in mouth anyway. I have a hard time swallowing pills, but the gel capsules are easy because they're small and slippery.

I would guess that just about anyone should be taking 2,000 units vitamin D unless they don't wear sunscreen or clothes and are outside a good bit of the day. The toxic level is 10,000 units daily, so 2,000 isn't that much. You used to see only 400 unit pills, but now the 2000s are everywhere and the same price.

Vitamin D.
To get it from the sun you need 10 mins exposure on your hands face and arms for every 1,000 units.
How do I know this, here in Australia there was a story about people not getting enough Vit.D. As they lived inside the cities and used sunscreen. The best time is early morning or after 3 in the afternoon. I take no Vit D as my levels are high from just going out side early morning to hang washing on the line or just collectring the mail.
