Hi everyone
It's been a while since I've been on the forum.  I'm still having a little bit of trouble sorting out this fibro stuff.  So many different things have been going on with me.   I was wondering if anyone  else was having any of these occurances happening to them:   I have found that my hair is thinning very much  and I have also noticed light patches of skin on my stomach.

I went to the dermatologist and found out that the skin lightening or loss of pigment is called vitiligo and even though they aren't exactly sure why this happens,  one of the theories is abnormally functionally nerve cells.  Isn't fibro overacting nerve cells?   The hair loss he thought might be from my thyroid not working properly, but I've had that checked so many times and it comes back in the low end of normal.  My sister in law has had fibro for almost 40 years and she told me to keep a close eye on my thyroid.   Any way, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced any of these crazy things happening to them.

Thanks for reading and any comments are appreciated.

Welcome back American Woman, I have never had any thinning of my hair and I dont have vitiligo. I will tell you however that with my journey of living with fibro I have had strange symptoms from it. My Doctor even told me if anything can go wrong with me it will. I think that it is all connected with the fibro. It gives us strange diseases and with each one of us it affects us differently. Just my thoughts and opinions not medically proven. lol

American Woman,
At first I thought Vitaglo was the herbal shop I go to. I don't have thinning hair other than when I was using amitriptoline.
Futurebionics Hair Skin and Nails is a great product, Bio-Sil helps (if you go into the web site it's for guys losing their hair)
I use it for cartalidge rebuilding. Also, Silica helps to thicken the hair and makes it grow.

Thanks Nana Monster and Shirley. It is just so confusing to try to figure this disease out. It seems like every day something new pops up. I'm trying to stay positive because I know there are more people out there worse off than I am and I'm very thankful that I can still get around okay.

I guess this is just one of the many adventures of life.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Hi American Woman, sorry about the new symptoms. My hair doesn't outwardly appear thin to others, but I lose enough hair every single day that I kill vacuum cleaners single handedly. My former doc never found a reason for it - but we always watched my borderline thyroid cuz he said that would be a clear reason if it wasn't functioning properly. (Family members are hypothyroid)

I've heard of vitiligo, but I do not have it. I do have non-pigmented dots all over - but it isn't vitiligo, I forget the name, it is common what I have. Since I'm like cream complected - with freckles, the unpigmented dots are not noticable anyway on me.

I read about a man who started producing a product with retinol for his mother who has vitiligo - it's called Green Cream, I think. I've never used it - but you could ask your doctor if retinol is indicated for vitiligo. (I was initially told about it for acne scarring but I've never used the product myself.)

Hang in and hold on. You'll get things sorted. Fibro is weird, to say the least.
