Whadda day.  Went back to my gynecologist so he could redo my internal exam after I got my constipation under control (which it isn't, but anyway...)  Long story short, I had to get a blood test for cancer because there's something there that he can feel but that the ultrasounds can't specify.  This test can easily give false negatives or positives so I have another colonoscopy ahead, maybe a laparascopic exam too, oh fun fun.  My husband just left for a week's camping trip and has no cell phone!  eyes   I wouldn't want him to rush back, but I'd like to be able to communicate with him.  He said he'll call when he can find a pay phone - like there are so many of those these days in the wilds of Idaho.

Hi Achey,

I'm sorry to hear you've been having so many problems. It's so frustrating, isn't it...just one thing after another. I hope you're able to get everything under control. I have IBS as well, and have been dealing with major issues of constipation. It's to the point that I'm often in tears while doing my business.

Hope you've been getting some relief. My doctor recommended Miralex (or what we call in Canada "Laxaday"). You mix it into a drink and honestly don't taste a thing .Hopefully you find something that works - because if you're anything like me, you know how uncomfortable it is to suffer like this.

Be well, sending good thoughts!

hugs,
Pam

Achey, this kind of stuff is frightening but be glad that you are getting a thorough check-up.  Try to think positively.  It could be nothing and if it is something, it's been found early and be taken care of.

I had a bad pap test a couple of months ago and had to have a cervical biopsy.  Yep, it sure does stay on your mind until you get the results back.  I am very good at pushing this stuff to the back of my mind.  I figure why worry?  I could get myself in more pain for no reason.  So, that's what I did in this situation.  My tests came back clear and then I breathed a sigh of relief.  I actually didn't realize how much it was affecting me and I really wasnt' thinking about it!

So, try to relax.  Keep all your doctor appointments and they will get to the bottom of this.  I'm praying for a great outcome!

Thanks, everybody.  I appreciate your ideas and your prayers.  I'm trying not to get overly concerned.

Sonny boy, I guess I didn't explain my situation very well.  My husband didn't know anything about this when he left yesterday morning, I only found out that afternoon that I needed that blood test and there's something going on.  He's definitely always there for me.  It's just ironic that this is the time I can't get ahold of him.  I'm so sorry you lost your son.

Hey Achey, how are you feeling? Any news yet? I bet they will probably biopsy it to confirm it, like they did me. Biopsy takes like forever to get back, like a month or so. It was a biopsy that done got me. But I'm here still a kickin, just ask Karen. Know that you are always thought of and prayed for hon. Feel free to gripe, talk whenever ya want with me!

Count me in as sending all the best wishes, good vibes and prayers I can. Like Sherrine said, there are positive aspects to consider here. They found something that might have been behind a lot of problems that you've been having. If they can fix this problem - even if the name of it sounds scary at first - you have the chance of living more comfortably than you have been. They can do so much these days in medicine. Please try to picture only the best outcome no matter what the diagnosis. Worry only creates more stress which makes you feel even sicker. Make it your mission in life to lighten your own stress burden. You don't need more stress. (Yeah, I sound like a nut - but it is true that stress can make everything just miles worse.) Your energy needs to be on healing and helping your doctor be successful for you. I just send this to another friend of mine, but maybe you'll like it too:

“If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.” The Dalai Lama

There are so many things it could be and most are benign. If you are getting the ca 125 test, don't panic if it's elevated. Only about 3% of women with elevated levels actually have cancer. It can be elevated due to endometriosis, liver problems, and many other conditions. Endometriosis is usually behind lumps and causes ovarian cysts and it is common in women with fibro.

Good luck.

Thanks, Sherrine. For now, the gastroenterologist just gave me some new ideas to work on my constipation, and I have to have a colonoscopy. Not pleasant, but no biggie. I'm very relieved.  I also had some blood tests for liver enzymes (which are always elevated)  and Celiac's.

On your advice, I'm starting to take those Malic Acid/Magnesium supplements from Puritan.  Hoping that helps.  Of course, I forgot to ask him if I could take that same dosage.  Oh well.  I'm already doing 2400/450, approximately.

The magnesium could help with your constipation.  I advise starting out slowly because it can cause diarrhea but somehow I don't think you have to worry about that!  smilewinkgrin I hope they help you as much as they have helped me.
