Today I went to the lab to get blood drawn.  Apparantly the chemo has made my white count very very low and now they say I am very prone to infection.  No digging in the garden, eating raw veggies or cleaning up after my dogs.  Good handwashing and often.  Any slight fever to report immediately , also sore throat etc.  I am feeling extremely tired too.  I keep falling asleep.

Oh and today my hair started coming out in clumps.  I washed it today and threw away a handful.  But on the bright side, I have a wig and several scarves that my daughters have bought me.  I want my daughter to cut my hair short now, so I don't have to deal with long strands, but she is not sure if she is coming down with a cold.  So, we postponed it for tonight at least.  I don't want to catch a cold.  I have to be careful around the grandchildren too.

I went to the surgeon today to discuss the placement of my port.  That will be done next Monday and Tuesday I get my next chemo infusion.  Please continue to pray for me.  I need your prayers, you wonderful people.  I am blessed to have you all in my life and I love each and every one of you, truly!!!

I'll keep you all updated as I go along.  Thanks for the interest.

Blessings and lots of love,

You are such a trooper, Linda! You can do this - and when it's over, you will look back at how strong you were. I pray you don't get sick. I'm glad you are taking good care of yourself.

Hey hon, what chemo are you on? I'm taking chemo again too. This is my third round, on azathioprine (immuran). You know, it is very common for losing hair, in fact I shaved mine for a fundraiser, St. Baldricks, for children with cancer. I figured what the heck, I'm going to lose it anyhow. Your doctor is right, you must report being sick, even over a silliest cold. The chemo surpresses your immune system to where it is very weak. I nursed back to health my baby (well he's six lol) when he had phenmonia and bronchitis, while I was in chemo. I fell so ill I had to be in my doctor's every two days, and was told he'd call the police to do a well being check on me if I missed any appointment. I had to get routine antibiotic shots, and everything. I don't know if you horseback ride, but depending on your white cell count, you can't if it is too low. Its dangerous to horseback ride when white cell counts are low. I have yet to figure out why, but I again, learned the hard way. At least I had a guide with me who managed to catch me when I started to slide off the horse. I told them about being in chemo, and they said they would of never put me on it if they would of known cuz you can't when your in chemo. I found it odd, so I asked the doctor and they said the horse trainer was right. Bah. I get tired too. I also get sick, and I take zofran and compuzeen for the naseau. You hang in there hon. And if you ever want to talk, email me. My email is whatdidusay at gmail dot com One day at a time

(Smurfy...I spelled out your email address so the bots and spiders won't find it and slam you with spam! ..lol )

Hi Linda and I am sorry that you are going through this but in the end you will prevail.  I had to do a 6 month treatment of interferon & ribavirion, weekly shots and twice daily pills.  Hep C which has cleared my system at least the live virus has, some docs call it remission.  Anyways.............

I remember the handfuls of hair, most folks that treated for that washed their hair much less often.  Many of us also got wigs but I didn't.  I cut mine short into an inverted bob.  My whites dropped but not as low as my reds, I can't imagine riding a horse feeling like that.

Just letting you know that I am with you and you are in my thoughts.

Hi lindaloo, just wanted you to know that I am still praying for you. Just wanted to let you know that even though it is hard to see ones hair go that it doesnt change who you are or how much others love you. I know this because of my mom and my best friend had cancer and I loved them the same. Sending positive thoughts your way.
Gentle hugs
Shirley

Silly men! Tell him a nice hot bubble bath would help hehe. I figured out my first itme in chemo its great to have family around. Eventually they start waiting on you like my lil boy insisted on taking the dishes to the sink and taking trash out (so I cleverly switched to plastic grocery sacks for trash for his size lol). If he wants to be a big boy and help, all the more power to him! I explained it to my kid, telling him I had big owies in the inside and I have to take icky medicines from doctor that make me sick to try to take my owies away and bye bye. Heck, how else do you explain chemo to a six year old LOL! He was four when I first got diangosed.

Dear Linda,

Each time you post, I get such a feeling of strength from you. You have so much facing you and you continue to face it like the strong lady you are.

My mother had been given the same list of 'things' to avoid and watch for when she had the chemo. We all were super careful of her, just like your family is w/ you.

Slightly different circumstance, but my DM was/is very sick right now. They had to put in a PIC line for blood test and meds, it has made such a difference. She doesn't have to be poked several times per day. Her veins are blown. Hopefully, the port for you will make this somewhat easier to deal w/.

Even if I'm not on every day, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

God bless.  Alice.
