Hello all.  I'm in a Fibro flare right now.  Sleep is just not happening tonight.  Worry has brought this on.   I've had several Dr. visits lately due to some digestive issues as well as some throat issues.  I go next Monday for an abdominal ct scan.  Am going to try to get in with an ent about the tightness in the throat as well as some chronic sinus issues.  Also had Lupus antibodies show up in bloodwork so I had more blood drawn today for additional testing for this.  I am very afraid of sedation and anesthesia and am realizing I may have to have either or and maybe both for some possible testing and of course if surgery arises.  I am way too old to have this fear.  I feel foolish about it.  Especially when I know others who are dealing with way worse situations.  Anyway, hoping this flare isn't long and sleep comes.   Thanks for listening Fibro family.

Oh, Libby, small wonder you're in a flare. So much on your mind. *hugs* I'm sorry this is all so unsettling.

Please don't feel foolish about having a fear at any age. Everyone has them. Not everyone admits it, that's all. My fear of new medications and allergic reactions definitely extends to sedation and surgeries - so I can really relate. I know there are ways to try to overcome, or at least reduce, our fears. It would probably be good if we both looked into this sort of thing - I mean - even self help can make a difference.

As for sleeping tonight - have you ever tried deep breathing? When I wake up and can't get back to sleep, I practice my deep breathing and meditation until I feel my body give up the panic and fear. It often works, especially when my mind is going in circles, it shuts it down. I'll breathe in and picture good oxygen flowing through my body and say the word, "so" in my head. Then I'll hold it for a second. Then exhale, and say the word "calm" to myself as I picture all the negatives flowing back out with that exhaled breath. It helps me. I hope maybe it might help you.

Keep holding on. You're gonna make it. :)

Sorry your having a rough time Libby... I am in the middle of a pretty vicious flare right now also. Deep breathing seems to really help me, also taking a nice hot shower and just letting everything relax.
Good luck getting some rest.

Im sorry Libby that you are going through so much right now. I am praying for you that this is something simple and easily fixed. Im not so afraid anymore of the anesthesia its the waking up in more pain that scares me. lol

I am also deathly afraid of spiders, snake, and heights so dont feel bad about your fear. As princess said we all have them. I hope you managed to get some sleep last night.

Gentle Hugs

Thanks Shirley.  I did end up getting some sleep so that was good.  I also am very afraid of spiders........I'm also afraid of meds due to sensitivity to most of them.  I actually started an antibiotic today and that was a chore to take the first dose but so far so good.  Thanks for the support!

Libby, it's hard when you have such things on your mind.  Your mind can pull you in so many negative situations...things that may never happen.  But, you are worrying about them anyway and it's affecting you.
I have learned how to push that stuff to the back of my mind and stay in the present.  I make my doctors' appointments and keep them so I am doing everything I can to stay healthy.  So, why worry?  It doesn't help one iota.
Fear is the cause of so many of the problems we have.  It leads to depression, anxiety, pain, etc.  So, that is why I have that scripture in my signature.  Check it out and think about it.  You actually have power, love, and a STRONG MIND!
Hope you get a much better night's sleep tonight.  Feel better!

Good advice Sherrine.  Thanks so much.  I have noticed your verse before and it is so true.  I need to remember it more often.
