Hi Guy's,
It's Steph....

I have had two "NEW" things going on and wonder if any of you have experienced this as part of your Fibro, or is it likely a seperate issue.

1st, My ears have been ringing for almost two solid weeks now and 2nd, my tongue feels like it's burning. Not all the time but boy when it burns it burns and seems dry.

There have been no medication changes so I'm looking for some answers.

I'm not sure if ringing ears is a fibro symptom, but I do know that it can be caused by something as simple as having fluid in your ears. I have Meniere's disease and have lots of ringing; I know it can drive you crazy.

Dry mouth is part of fibro. There are some over-the-counter products you can buy that help. One is Biotene and the other is Oasis. They make toothpastes, mouthwashes, sprays, etc. to help keep your mouth moisturized. I really like the Biotene gel, especially when I wake up at night with a painful, dry tongue.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hugs - Austen

Don't you love new symptoms? Not!

I have no first hand knowledge, but if some of the members with Meniere's are here, maybe they can speak about that. I get on and off ringing, but not that much that it annoys me. No dry mouth for me - but I have read that what AustenFan suggested, Bioteen , is supposed to be amazing for dry mouth problems, even for chemo patients etc. A radio doctor talked about it once and said it was great stuff. (Again, no first hand knowledge myself though.)

Sometimes I get the ear ringing thing going on, but mine is caused by my sinus
problems. If my sinuses aren't draining properly it builds up pressure in my inner
ear. Because of the meds I'm on I can no longer use a decogestant. Holding warm
compresses on my sinus area helps drainage and the ringing stops.

Check with your doc if the symptoms don't let up. Good luck to you!

I don't know about the tongue but I always have ringing in my ears.

Don't know if it's from the fibro or a bad fall I had years ago or a combination.
I've had MRI's and CT scans and they all have been ok.
Mine is worse at night when I lay a certain way.

Hi Steph,

I'm sorry you're experiencing new symptoms...it's frustrating to keep having "problems" crop up. I think the ringing ears is probably medicine related...sometimes when you take something for too long, that will happen. I really don't know about the tongue part though, but GSDGirls suggestion might work. Good luck to you and i hope you get answers soon.

hugs,
Pam

Thanks - I did mix the benedryl and malox and it does help. I had been told about that by my pharmacist a few years ago to help with the cold sore's that I get with the fibro. Knocks them right out. Had not thought about this for my tongue issue. Did talk to my doctor and he says it's related to the Lyrica, some have this reaction, some don't. While it's irritating and uncomfortable, for me the trade off will be worth it at least for now because the Lyrica seems to be working on the constant pain. So It reminds me of Will Smith in "Hitch" , maybe I'll mix a bottle and put a straw in it.

Have a good evening all and Prayers for Sleep for all of us.
