Hi! In addition to recently being dx'd with fm I was also recently diagnosed with something called inappropriate sinus tachycardia which basically means a rapid resting heartrate with a normal rhythm. I was just wondering if anyone else here had anything like this or if there is any connection with fibro? Thanks!

Somebody else wrote about tachycardia last night, but not a constant thing. I get that too sometimes. Whether there's a connection with Fibro, I can't say. Where does the sinus part come in?

The sinus part is that it is a normal sinus rhythm in terms of the heartbeat but that it is just constantly fast. For me, I have been experiencing a constant fast heart rate for years so I don't actual "feel" a difference in terms of symptoms of having a rapid heart rate that people might who feel it occasionally because it is "normal" for me. I wore a holter monitor recently for 24 hrs. and my average heart rate was 105. I was just wondering if there was any relation to fibro since everything else seems to be connected to it. :) Probably not though. Thanks!

I was one of those people last night......before the beta blocker my pulse ran between 90's to 100. One time I hit 140 in the doctors office she about had a cow.

I do have times when it goes fast and I can't even tell you what it is, look for the heart surgery thread.

I believe it is one of those symptoms in fibro 101 thread.

Sounds like what I have whenI don't have the "bad attacks". I went from 110/75 to an average of 125/90 and a bad rate of 160/110.
So, yes I am thinking heart problems are somehow realated to Fibro. I see my cardiologist Wednesday and will try to rememeber to ask him.
Have they tried any heart meds on you?? I am having a reaction to mine.

The cardio says I am fine for now but worries more about when I get a bit older since my heart could "wear itself out" from running so quick. He did recommend beta blockers but I am going to wait until I am finished having children since it sounds like something I'll have to be on for the rest of my life.

Right now I am on Bystolic 5 mg however I refused to pay $45 dollars a month so my doctor put me on Atenolol 12.5 mg (cut in half, once a day). I haven't started that one yet till I use all my FREE samples of Bystolic, lol.

Whatever your doctors decide, I know with me I have a good blood pressure so I had to be checked to make sure that didn't lower it to low.

Your right sunshineray....my doctor told me it could do damage to my heart. I have had this since I was a teen and finally got a doctor to understand. It was my daughter's heart doctor that told me of my conditon because she has it too.

I was on atenolol but it didnt really keep my BP where the doc wanted it and it really slowed my pulse down too much, so they switched me to benicar and i do alot better but if i forget to take it, I know it!
Fibromyalgia, abnormal ANA, Complete hysterectomy, GERD, high blood pressure, sure there is more but fibrofog is blocking it out!

There have been times where there was something unusual about my EKG. I needed
cardio clearance to have surgery. I know I have a fast resting heart rate. I am on
medication for hypertension. I had or have a slight irregulart heart rytyhm that the
cardiologist didn't seem to concerned about, so I'm not either.

My resting heartbeat is around 80 but I do get palpitations.  When they started, I was thoroughly checked out so now I don't worry about them.

Hi sunshineray and welcome!!  I went to the E.R. about 3 years ago and  a V-tach happened while I was on an ekg machine.  It was a Friday so I ended up stuck there till Monday to get the stress test and whatever else they did.  Put me on metoprolol.

Last year there was also something irregular on an ekg so I did another stress test and am still on the beta blocker which has quieted down the palpations, which I have had forever I think,  and keeps the blood pressure in check.

Sunshineray - welcome to the board!

It seems like so many of us have one heart condition or another. I have pvc's - 15,000 a day on my last holter. My cardiologist said they could have been caused by a virus that damaged my heart. I don't feel them too much, they were diagnosed because my pulse is in the low 40's when I am in bigeminy and my doctor caught it.

I do know that they started after the fibro because I used to be a runner and was very aware of my resting heart rate - and it wasn't 40!! I also have mild mitral valve prolapse, which is supposed to be common in fibro.

I wish they could figure all of this out!!
