DH and I went to the Animal Rescue League last night and adopted two 8-week-old kittens. They are sisters, so they're happy together. We named them China Doll and Molokai. Diane

How wonderful of you to adopt rescues! Good for you! I have two dogs, one is a rescue we adopted, both Golden Retrievers. I just finished filling out an application to become foster parents to some more that are currently in shelters. There are so many people that are giving up their aniimals due to economic reasons, health issues, etc. I feel I have to do something. I cannot wait to start!

Oh, I am always so happy to hear about someone rescuing pets!!  Of my 6 GSD's only 2 are of my breeding  / buying.  One that I bought would have been a brood bit.ch and another would have been put to sleep by the breeder because of the lack of hip sockets at the age of 5 months........same breeder, I took her dwarf so she would not be put down, she is 4 years old and weighs 9 lbs......pure bred dwarf GSD, and I cxan't even remember how many rescues have gone thru here....

That's great that you adopted.  I just love cats.  We have an outdoor cat but have had many indoor cats over the years.  Enjoy them!

Oopss, I forgot about the barn cat Bubba.  He was feral but is somewhat tame now but will not use a litter box which is why he is not in the house.  Bubba is fixed and UTD on shots.  The neighbor runs a non profit org for the feral cats.

Hi Diane, Im so glad that you are willing to give these kittens a loving home. All three of our cats are rescue cats because they were found outside. One of them was found by a man alongside the road in the middle of winter. My daughter had been bagging us for a kitten and when my husband heard about this cat he brought it home and we gave it to our daughter for Christmas. Then next one my son found outside wandering around and it was just a tiny kitten. So we made room for it in our house and she is the boss over all the animals. The final one we found outside in our dog house in early March when it was still very cold out. I heard the dogs going crazy outside so I sent my son out to see what was wrong. He came in with this poor starved cat that you could literally see every rib. I had never seen a cat in such rough shape and hope to never see another one like it. He is very unique he has 7 claws on one front foot and 6 on the other front and 5 on each of the back ones. It was obvious that he had been someones pet because he is very loving.
Im not sure what happened if he got lost or what we did put an ad in the paper saying we had found him but noone ever called. So he has made this his home.
One of our dogs is also a rescue dog, My husband got him while I was at work because the people that had him before were living in an apartment that didnt allow animals. So my husband took him so that he would not end up in a shelter. He is a beautiful big white part lab, part husky and a little bit of wolf thrown in for good measure. He is a wonderful dog to have around. The only time it bothers me having him is during shedding season. lol
I am such an animal lover and so is my husband. We got rid of all of our carpeting in our house because I would rather have the pets than nice carpeting lol
Gentle Hugs

Shirley...... Your cat sounds like a Hemingway breed of cat.  The paws are what tells that breed.  My friend rescued one that was a sad bag of bones.  Unfortunately as soon as she was coming along she passed, but at least she was not alone and starving.

I'm an animal lover too and all of our pets have been rescues.  They help us through our darkest hour and I can't imagine not having them!  Congrats on your new kittens!

How wonderful!  They are so fortunate to get a good home.  Kittens are so much fun.  I know you will enjoy them.

I have two feral cats that we adopted and they are both fixed and are house cats.  They don't want to be outside now!  They back up when we open the door.  LOL  Oh, did I mention that they are spoiled rotten???

Sherrine, I wish my Bubba would want to be a house cat but alas he prefers it outside and away from my dog Blaze, Blaze thinks the cats should be her friends but none of them like her smilewinkgrin    She has gotten nailed a few times so thank goodness that all the cats around here have had their shots

Congratulations! All of our pets are from the Humane Society - 2 dogs, 3 cats. I love them all, but one of these cats is someone I would have a heck of a time living without.

In early June, we sent our niece's cat back to her since she had graduated from college, found a job and an apartment that takes cats. Two days before that my kitten was hit by a car and killed. We thought it was time to have two cats back in the house. They are lots of fun. Diane

So cool... I loved reading all the responses and am so glad you got these two kittens. I love cats and it's all I can do to keep from being a old cat lady... I would adopt as many as I could but I'm really partial to solid black or the tuxedo's... I have my baby...Bageera ( bagi for short) named from the Jungle Book...

OH.... now you done it... I'm gonna talk my hubby into a trip to the shelter this weekend....

What fun.
