Thank God I didn't have to go in because I have been in bed for four days, barely able to move. I think I am in a bad flare. I have to get off of Tramadol, since the two taken together can cause serotonin syndrome. He wants me taking Darvon until the Cymbalta starts working(hopefully).

I am feeling a little better physically today, but mentally, alot has been going on in my personal life. It's hard dealing with stress when you are sick. All I want is to be able to funtion. That's all I wanted from the beginning and the Savella helped with that until it made me so nauseated. I am not even asking for 100% of my life back. I just want "something."

Anyway, I just wanted to update everyone. I know there are posts here already about cymbalta so I will look them up, but if anyone wants to take a little time to post any positives or negatives they've experienced, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again for all the help I have gotten here. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Cajun,
If you are on hyrdos why would he want you on darvacet? They work in the same way but hyrdo is more powerful.
I normally take darvies but with the knee and wrist surgery I'm on hydros.
Good luck with the Cymbalta, I lasted 4 days on it and was in worse pain than before. I have both RA and fibro.

Cajun, I'm sorry the Savella did not work out for you. I'm hoping the Cymbalta
does. I've been lucky with the Savella with no side effects, but was not lucky using
Cymbalta. The Cymbalta made me dizzy and nauseas. I felt like I had the flu
I guess it is true that we all tolerate meds differantly. Wishing you the
best of luck. I hope you feel better soon!

I hope the Cymbalta works for you.  There are quite a few that this medication helps.  It's so hard dealing with this illness but you will find what works for you.  It's just tough in the interim.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the replies. It's always good to know the negatives because if I have that reaction, I know that others have had it too.

Nana Monster- you said hyrdo? Do you mean hydrocortisone? The reason he switched me to Darvon, was because it doesn't work in the brain like Tramadol does. I think Tramadol messes with the serotonin if I'm not mistaken. Don't quote me on that though, lol. I am taking Darvon instead of Darvacet because Darvon doesn't have acetaminophen in it. I have to stay away from acetaminophen because of liver problems.

If you meant hydrocortisone, it doesn't help my pain that much. It just helps with inflammation.

Hi Cajun...yes, Tramadol DOES effect serotonin levels and should not be taken with any SSRI/SNRI!  Good doctor for knowing that because sooooo many do not!

Feel better

Cajun Girl,

I'm so glad to hear that your doctor has given you a script for something else to try. I hope you have great results from Cymbalta. I know a lot of people that have really good results with it. Yes, let me know when you decide you are ready to try provigil and if you have any questions I may be able to help you with. I swear, I think my Lyme has come back....I just really feel like in my heart of hearts it has. I hope not.

Please keep us updated just like you did with the Savella on how the Cymbalta works for you. And if it does, I may just try it again. I don't know if I didn't take it long enough or because I was only taking the smallest does, I did not have much luck with it. But I'm always an odd cookie anyway. LOL

Hi Cajun,
I misread your post. Yeah, I take Hydrocortisone as they took a 3" lipoma tumor from my left wrist that had started to
wrap itself halfway around it. When they got done I had a 1/2" crater in it. Even after a month it's still tender inside, though
the outside is healing nicely. They just did knee artho on the right one. The surgery wasn't even a day old and I had to drive
myself 40 miles to get the wrist looked at, try doing that with a 5 speed!!! shocked
I normally take darvacet when necessary as I had to stop herbals because of the surgery and man am I feeling it.
Have you checked into Burdock Root for the liver?

Cajun,

I know this is kind of a sub-issue, but I asked a pharmacist about Darvon, and she said they don't make it alone anymore - guess she was wrong! I have liver issues, too, so would rather not have the acetaminophen. Time to push again, dangit all.

Thanks for explaining Nana Montster:)

Acheybody- Hmmmmm, I wonder why your pharmacist said that? My pharmacy had to order it, but they did have it. Maybe try another pharmacy.

Not sure why but for some reason I still say I take Provigil, when I am actually on Nuvigil. It seems to work better for me.
