What do you do to make yourself feel good about yourself?  Yesterday I went to hairdresser for the first time in a year: I forgot how good it feels to treat myself! The shampoo with the scalp massage alone was worth the money.

I file and bleach my nails. They are hard as rocks and a pain to keep a decent length. Many people say that it is better than super thin nails but I am not so sure about that.

I must say my little bit of pleasure is the sun shining through the window right now. It is a cold day today. I can't believe the temperature difference from two days ago. But that little bit of sunshine coming in the window right now makes my heart sing. There are a lot of little pleasures in life, if we are able to notice them.

I'd also say getting my hair cut. And I'm even thinking of highlighting it again, something I almost never do. But it's kinda fun, just changing something about myself in a way that doesn't cause pain.

Well, I get my hair done once a month, I give myself a manicure weekly and a pedicure monthly (too cheap to pay someone to do something I can do) and I get a massage monthly.  All of that makes me feel good.

But the main thing that I try to do is reach out to others and try to help others.  My Mom taught me that at a very young age and I have been volunteering ever since.  When I know I've helped someone by them either telling me or flashing a beautiful smile, I sure feel good.  It makes me feel like I'm doing something worthwhile since my family is all out of the house now.

Denise, do you soak your nails before you try to give yourself a manicure?  Maybe take a nice hot soak in the tub and then trim your nails.  Maybe that would help.  I know it helps me when giving myself a pedicure.

I have my hair cut and colored once a month. It's my only kind of expensive thing I do for myself. I also do my own nails. I also just started taking some exercise classes. It makes me feel good that I can still do the exercises at my age. I also have started biking again. Maybe I don't go as far as I used to but I feel like a kid again when I ride.

I used to get my hair done often til all my money started going to doctors and meds, lol. I also love to paint my toenails; it's nice to feel pampered once in a while.
