I used to take it, but I had kidney issues and had to stop it.
It's like a strong ibuprophen.

I also took it. It's generic for Mobic, I believe. I was told by my pain management doctor it is similar to Celebrax. It's an anti-inflammatory that he said works well for fibromyalgia. I also had to stop taking it for awhile due to kidney function test showing possible damage.

It worked pretty good. Just keep an eye on your kidneys.

I was reading up on it yesterday at rxlist.com, and there are a LOT of side effects. I'd be scared to try it.

I had an EGD about 3 months ago and had esophagitis and gastritis, and I was told not to take NSAIDs by mouth anymore. That is hard for me because I have a lot of inflammation. I can tell my arthritis is worse since I've been off it.

I take Meloxicam and Cymbalta and my pain is manageable most days. I don't have any side effects from it. Wasn't sure how much it helped so I went off it...big mistake and liars of pain helped me see that it does work.

I take it. My rheumy prescribed it since I have a lot of morning stiffness (I take it at bedtime). It does help with that, especially after days where I've overdone it. However, he doesn't want me taking it more than 4-5 times a week, due to gastric issues...

I took it for about 4 months and saw no positive change and no side effects.
SLE, severe spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, Plaquinil, gabapentin 1200mg, and Cymbalta 600mg, Hydrocodone and Xanax as needed

I took it before my fibro diagnosis (I also have spinal arthritis) and it did not help me at all.

I am new here, 3 weeks ago started Meloxicam and pain relief was almost immediate. Most pain relief I've had in years. GP had only given me hydrocodone. Went in to get Rx renewed and talked with a new doctor and found out about side effects. I have Factor V and recently had a blood clot in leg. So am on blood thinner Xeralto.
Dr said meloxicam could cause bleeding and or blood clots. So have decided to stop as I don't need another blood clot. Am not happy about pain returning. Will get a rheumatologist as I've never had one. The pain is debilitating. Can hardly walk.
Has anyone had bleeding and or blood clots on this med? Thanks for any help.

Hi, Moosie. Nice to meet you! I've been on Meloxicam for several yrs. I haven't had any problems w it at all. My rheumy has me on 1 tablet per day, I don't take it everyday. He is aware of that. I also have hydro, but I use that even more sparingly. Mostly for 'bone' pain. Lol Most times I go to Advil for my pains. Basically, all the meds, Advil included, make me sleepy, so I only take them at bedtime.

Your idea of getting a rheumy is an excellent idea. It's a good idea to ask the office if the dr believes in Fibromyalgia, as some drs still don't 'get it'. Sadly, I've met a few. ☹️

I don't know if you were directed to the top of the Fibro page, but up in those stickies are some wonderful articles. Lots of good information.

I'm extremely sensitive to many meds, so I really try to avoid them as much as possible. I take a hot shower in the evening to relax my back, neck and all those other stiff, unpleasant parts. lol I like to work in my garden, hang my clothes on the line, walk my 'puppies', etc. I start out w gentle stretching in the morning before I even get out of bed. I keep a bottle of water w me at all times, as I tend to get so involved, I forget to stop and get a drink. I dehydrate quickly. Not good for my body in general, nor my kidneys in particular.

I try to break my 'jobs' into 20 minute intervals. This reminds me to stop, stretch and walk, get some water, rest if necessary. This is hard for me, as I'm a person who has always believed, I'll rest when I'm done! lol

I'm truly sorry you are in so much pain. I do hope you can get an appt w a rheumy soon and they can begin to help you. It is miserable to be in so much pain.

Pls keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

God bless. Alice.
