Three weeks ago, I fell and broke my ankle. I've done alright with it, still working, going to ballgames, etc. I go back to the orthopedic doctor Monday to see if surgery is going to be necessary. Trying everything to not have to go through that, too! Unfortunately, during all of this, it seems that my medication has stopped working as well. I'm taking gabapentin 600mg daily. Maybe I'm just flaring worse than usual because of the stress on my body due to the broken ankle or maybe the med isn't working anymore. Any ideas or experiences similar to this? Trying to avoid going to the rheumatologist until my appointment next month because of all of the other appointments for my ankle. turn

Gee, Michele, I'm so sorry to hear that! Stress could be making things worse. I'm sure you have an undercurrent of stress going on because of your ankle and the fact you are concerned that you might need surgery. Stress is awful and can change so much in our bodies.

Do try to not worry. You know you will be fine eventually and it wouldn't surprise me if you did not need surgery at all! I'll be praying for that.

Do let us know how you are doing because we do care about you.

So sorry that happened to you--ouch! How are you feeling now? Maybe you could call your doctor/clinic to get help for the pain if it continues.

I hope things go well for you on Monday, too. Take care, quick healing, and keep us posted.
