Hello,

So I saw a new doctor the other day. I have no insurance or job thanks to Fibro so it was very expensive. The doctor said he'd refund my money (which he did) if I tried to do 45 minutes of cardio a day. The thought of that scares me. Well at this point I've tried everything else so I'm going to give it a shot. His thinking is that is I legitimately exhaust myself I will actually get some deep sleep.

Has anyone tried this for Fibro? What were your results? I'm guessing I will need to stick with this for a few months to see any results.

Thanks,
A

I think I'd be in the market for a new doctor...one that understands fibro. No way could I do 45 minutes of cardio exercises. Patients with fibro are told that gentle exercises like walking, swimming, or yoga at the best for them. Excessive exercise would have my muscles screaming at me.

Also it's not uncommon for people with fibro to have difficulty sleeping. We don't get in the deep R.E.M. sleep where our bodies start to heal themselves. I avoid caffeine later in the day, I go to bed and get up at the same time every day, and I only lie down in my bed when it's time to sleep. This helps train your body. Some members have had to resort to sleeping medication.

So do find a doctor that understands fibro. Remember....50% of the doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class.

Thanks Sherrine! Yeah I've seen about 50 doctors in 3 years so I don't see new ones often anymore. He is the first one to suggest something so radical. I have tried all the prescriptions with no luck. Tired diets, yoga.. you name it. Half the doctors I see think its Fibro, some think its MS and some think it's Lyme Disease. Testing for MS (lumbar puncture, many MRIs) always comes back negative. Soooo Its like i have Fibro AND something else that they can't figure out. GOOD TIMES! I'm going to stick with it for a while even though it hurts.. like a lot. If it somehow does end up helping I'll post an update.
I guess it could be worse

You said some "think" its Lyme disease. Have you ever been checked for that or are they guessing? Blood work could rule out Lyme and MRI's could help to rule out MS. If you get blood work for Lyme disease, have them run it through Igenex Labs in Palo Alto, California. They are supposed to be the most accurate lab for Lyme disease. You can visit our Lyme disease forum and ask about that.
