Mailman, I started a new post because the other was getting too long. When my husband was told that he had hep C they said there was know way of knowing how long he had it. He thinks he probably contacted it in the late 80's. The doctor's told him then that he would live many years before it affected his liver and that he would most likely die of something else first. I think maybe his alcoholism combined with the hep c sped things up. He stopped drinking when he found out he had cirrhosis. I understand how your wife feels. It scares me too when my husband starts acting confused. When he is aware, I ask him if he feels the episodes coming on, and he says he can sometimes.
I really hope that you get your transplant soon so you don't have to suffer anymore, and you can enjoy your family.
As always you are in my prayers.
There is always hope!
