Please don't think i am joking as i am very scared at present hence need someone/anyone to give me some info/advice. I work alongside class A drug users some of whom are Hep c+. Unfortunately the nature of my work leaves me at risk of making enemies of some of our clients and it is this very risk that has brought me here today! On December 18th i ate some food that had been handled 5 mins previously by a Hep C+ client who had taken a severe disliking to myself (found out he had access to the food at a later date). What are the chances of Hep C being passed on this way if blood had been put into the cold food. I know i had bitten the inside of my mouth that day whilst eating. For the past 2-3 weeks i have been feeling pain below my ribs, have excess gas, sharp pains in my abdomen and slight itching in various places. I am due to go for a test in less than a week, my last one being Dec 8th which was clear. I do suffer from AS hence have various symptoms from that.

Hello Verylow. I agree with dansbrother. The risk is very low like your name. Don't worry until you find out you have something to worry about for sure. Take care and good luck with the test next week.

When the going gets tough....the tough get going! Don't always know where I going but I get there anyways.

HCV must be spread by blood to blood contact but can live outside the body for hours where as HIV can't live outside the body. Your risk is very low but its great you idenfied this potential risk & take care at all times if you are a food handler - use gloves.

Thank you all for the support. The incident in question happened back in Dec 07 but as has been noticed i am not sure if i have contracted Hep C or even if the food i ate was tainted by the client. I was only wanting to know if it had been tainted what would be the chances of transmission. I appreciate all the support given. Could i just add that if my food had been tampered with there is no way of proving by whom hence i would not be able to take it through the law courts. Thanks again
