After finally getting thru the coordinator and getting to a dr, the dr says Bk's MELD is at a 10 right now ( I dont see how, they have not been watching what I have been seeing but they are the smart ones I guess)
Actually, he has been feelings a ton better, I have managed to get weight back on him and he has few episodes of confusion. He has alot more energy and his biggest problem now is the hernia, it is about the size and length of a cucumber, had it ultrasounded on friday and it was filled with fluid as well as intestine and fecal matter. They will not do anything about the hernia until or unless he has a transplant. Oh, they said he is sick enough to make the list, however he must go thru 6 months of AA 3 times a week to be put on the list, which kinda makes me a bit angry, him as well. He went thru rehab and completed it as well as having been sober for over a year now.The social worker will not put him on the list until he has had meetings 3 x a week for 6 months and since everyone on the team has to agree she holds his life inher hands, literally.
The ascites has increased, they are now getting about 9 liters a week out of him, having to go twice a week now, if we get it drained off on tuesday by friday we have to get it done again or we will have to go thru the er over the weekend. The ER dr's dont like to do it and we dont like them to do it, we prefer to use our regular r.
They are talking about doing a TIPS, we had been advised that he would not be a good candidate for TIPS since he already had bouts of confusion but the Liver dr's seem to think that it would be ok. He drinks Lactulose like crazy but because of the hernia he doesnt move well.
We have now moved his son over with us, he was staying at myhusbands trailer until we got hubby settled in, step son is 25, he is disabled, has the mentality of maybe an 8 year old in alot of ways, has hydroencephalitus and cannot live alone.
I am hoping to be able to go back to work monday, which means I will have to lay off a groomer so I can make a little money, the shop has been super slow, we are in a small town that already had a tight budget, with gas prices business has really slacked off. I dont know if it will be worth it tho, between the gas to go back and forth to the shop, gas to go to AA 3 times a week ( in town) and driving to houston once a week, as well as the twice a week trips to town to have the thora or para, I dont know if there are any hours left to do real work ( total sarcasm there)
Ya'll have a great Moms Days :)

Hi Therese,
It all sound's so familiar as my husband is going through the same thing's yeah , What is the TIPS test?  Haven't heard of that one!!  My husband has to attend two A.A. meeting's a week and it really drain's him, he is currently a 17 on the meld and they won't consider him for the list again until August.  His confusion is better too with the lactolose, before he started it he was really out there!!  Had whole conversation's with himself, really freaked me out.
