Hi all,

Woo Hoo! Just a quick note to share the good news. I am now active on the transplant list. It will still be a long time until I am eligible for an actual liver, but it is good to know that if a B+ liver were to trickle down, I would be considered. We celebrated with a meal that included lots of garlic. That should keep the werewolves, or vampires, away -- I don't remember which. With the garlic breath, it's probably a good thing that I don't have a GF now -- unless she were to eat as much garlic as I did, it would keep her away.

My parents arrived and are settled into the guest room. Our nap times today coincided perfectly. And while I normally strive to accomplish one thing each day, I was able to do three today. Good times!

The NYU transplant clinic has asked me to register with them, so I am going to follow up on that. I haven't checked their numbers yet but they are reputed to have a larger transplant base and are the nearest clinic 'approved' by my insurer, BlueCross. My transplant team here has encouraged me to register in the two regions to double my chances for a liver.

I hope that you all are doing as well as we do. Caregivers, take some time for yourselves so you don't burn out. Get a massage or get away for some reading time. Patients, keep the faith, down the Lactulose and have a pomegranate cocktail on me (1 oz Pom and 10 oz sodium-free seltzer).

Trying for sleep, John

Congrats and celebrations for you !!
After a big day like today you need a nap. Glad your parents are with you. I wish mine could be. Both my parents are deceased and that is why I am so happy and lucky to find this group and you etc.

Keep the faith

Congrats John

And it happened when your parents were there! Nice to have them celebrating with you.   I think garlic is good on everything.  What a great way to celebrate.  Hope you have a good visit with your parents.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers and wishes!

It was too cool to have the letter come while my parents are here. And it really helps to have you all to share it with.

I hope that each of you can celebrate happy events in your respective trials with this disease.

Pink Grandma - yes, the nap coordination is a big deal. Especially with the limited number of usable hours dwindling due to symptoms. Thanks!
Judith - you know that I'm cheering for your husband to get onto the list. Keep the faith!
Karen - I try to never forget how blessed I am to still have my parents around. I know that everyone on the forum will try their best to be family to you.
JoAnn - being in a community of southern Italian heritage, garlic is a mainstay here. Whole cloves on the table with olive oil is not uncommon as a snack. Ummmmm!

I have to try for sleep. Be well, John

John, I am just now able to get on here and read your wonderful news!!!!  I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am for you!!  Also glad to know your parents are there to share in this exciting news.

I hope George puts you in a restful sleep tonight.

Big hugs,

Connie

P.S.  I use a lot of garlic, too, and there's not a drop of Italian in my blood line.  tongue

Hi Connie,

I know why you use lots of garlic. You're transcendental! It was obvious from the start. Beatnik poet, transcending all adversity, garlic is a natural.

George was great. My parents are super. This disease sucks. You and the other forum regulars are my backbone.

Be well, know you're loved, and keep on keepin' on!

Goodnight, John (good morning, really)

And here I thought I was just stubborn!  ;)

Sweet dreams!
