Hi, everyone.  I have not been around for a while, I have been doing good.  But now I have a new diagnosis!  Some people collect, say, Hummel figurines, or Redsox pennants, but I collect diseases!!  I now have three--crohn's, autoimmune hepatitis, and sarcoidosis.  It was diagnosed after a biopsy of some non-painful lumps in my legs and arms.  I haven't seen a specialist or anything, so I don't know how else my body is affected.   Does anyone out there have Sarcoidosis?  Any advice/help for me?

Hi, Pix!  It's good to have you post.  I'm so sorry that you are now dealing with another disease.  I have met a couple of people with sarcoidosis.  Have you done any research on the Internet?  Here's what my Taber's Medical Dictionary says:  "sarcoidosis - A disease of unknown etiology characterized by widespread granulomatous lesions that may affect any organ or tissue of the body.  The liver is frequently affected, as are the skin, lungs, lymph nodes, spleen, eyes, and small bones of the hands and feet."

What type of doctor did the biopsies in your case?

Hugs,

Connie

Hi, connie

The doctor was a plastic surgeon. I had two biopsies. The dermatologist didn't want to do it---they were "too large and too deep". Thanks for the definition. I have researched it some. The problem is that the course is so varied that I don't know what my particular prognosis is without more tests and stuff. I have an appointment with my primary care on Sept 26 for follow-up. How are you doing????

Pix, I'm doing really well.  Cancer free 16 mos. post liver surgery and my labs are near normal.  :-)    Of course, I'm still fatigued all the time from the hep C.

Hugs,

Thanks, Connie, Lucy and Pink Grandma!

I do appreciate any prayers and thoughts.  I think that a loving intention does produce actual  healing energy.

I do wonder if I am doing the wrong thing in my life somehow, and if the illnesses are a result of something bad that I am thinking or feeling.  My lifestyle is good--diet, exercise and sleep, and my daily life really isn't very time-stressed.  I think I am fairly mentally healthy--no symptoms of anything, and no drugs/alcohol.  I suppose this is the long version of "Why me?" I have read books like "'the Secret" and now I feel that I am to blame for "creating" my sickness.  You guys are veterans, what do you think about all this?

Hi Pix, I am sorry that you are having to deal with so many illnesses. I don't think you should blame yourself. It sounds like you are doing everything you can to take care of yourself. You have been and still are in my prayers.

Ah, yes, the mind-body connection.  No doubt a person can make himself sick by constantly thinking negative thoughts and dwelling on their ailments, etc.  However, I agree with Butterfly.  You are doing all the right things.  You just happen to have developed sarcoidosis.  "Unknown etiology" means they don't know what causes it.  So if the great medical minds don't know, there's no reason you should know.  "Stuff happens," that's all.  rolleyes

Postive energy being directed towards you, along with hugs.

I certainly believe that there are mental conditions that can affect our bodies physically, such as stress, anxiety and depression, however I do not believe that you are the cause of any of your illnesses. Immune disorders are somehow interrelated and frrom what I have read it is "normal" (if there really is such a thing) to have more than one of these disorders at a time. I know it is so easy to get caught up in the "why me syndrome". Sometimes there is really no answer bad things happen even to good people even when we are doing all the right things. Please keep your chin up. Sending you postive energy and prayers.
