Hi my name is Brooke, and I am 29 years old and I was recently diagnosed with NAFLD.  I was weighing 230 pounds and I was told that losing just as little as 10 pounds should bring my enzyme levels down significantly ( I am not sure what the #'s are) and so I made it my mission to lose weight...  that was in August and as of my current check up and blood draw in October with a 20pound weight loss the enzyme #'s have gone up even more.  My doctor told me to continue to lose weight and eat healthy and exercise, which I do very carefully, and I have another blood panel to do next week and she said it the #'s are still high or have gone up I will have to have  a liver biopsy.  Does anyone have any advice or light they can shed at what I may be looking at here, like is it maybe not NAFLD only???  Help, I  am really worried.  Thanks in advance. smurf

Hi Brooke, I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I have no knowledge of NAFLD so I'm sorry that I can't be helpful. I'm not sure if anyone will be able to shed light on your situation as liver disease is a very tricky thing. Good luck with the diet and exercise. I know that weight can play a big part in a lot of things. I will pray that your condition improves.

Hi, Brooke, and welcome.  Do you have any risk factors for hepatitis B or C?  Have you been a heavy alcohol drinker in the past or now?  Did your doctor test for hepatitis?  Before doing a biopsy, I would request that she test for those liver diseases, if she has not already done so.

Sorry not to be of more help.

Hugs,
Connie

Brooke,

Have them check you for autoimmue Hepatitis.

That's what I have, my first liver Dr. suspected Fatty liver, cause I am fat....I told him just cause I am fat does not mean my liver is too.... tongue

Turned out to be AIH.  Doctor's don't know it all, believe me, I am on my 3rd one.

Good Luck

Rhonda
