Hi, Manyvoices, and welcome to the forum! From the little you posted, I assume you have hep C? Were you on the "combo?" That is the current treatment; however, there are newer treatments being developed and some may be in clinical trials now. My Mayo hepatologist told me that she is to be alerted if there is a clinical trial for which I might be a good candidate. Are you being seen by a hepatologist?
I have just started Infergen for Hep C which is Interferon Combo X 7. Small studies have shown the higher dose to be extremely effective (if it doesn't kill you first).
I did Pegasys but did not clear. It takes a year post treatment to feel normal.
The only new treatment in trial that looks to be even marginally successful in terms of getting passed by the FDA is a protease inhibitor with combo treatment.
I should also have mentioned diet as a factor in feeling better. Try to eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies and little meat. Avoid beef, as it is difficult for the liver to digest. Get your protein in beans and milk products. Drink a lot of pure water. I broke down last night and made myself a hamburger, and I'm paying for it today by feeling much more fatigued and sleepy than usual. I usually make turkey burgers.
Cary, how are you doing on the new treatment? Is it a combo of injections and pills? How long does the treatment last in total?
