I hope all of you had a WONDERFUL Christmas!! We were very blessed to have visits from my husbands oldest son (who lives out of town) and also my stepdaughter (who is in the service in California). It really lifted my husband's spirits to see them both and also various family members who stopped by.....but most of all, it was wonderful just getting to spend time together this Christmas (last Christmas he was in the hospital). May you all have a wonderful New Year!!

Wayne, have you thought of getting counseling or joining a support group for caregivers of chronically ill?  This forum is a great support system, but not quite the same as "in person" people who understand what you are going through.

My ex-b.f. came over to eat and exchange gifts yesterday, and it was very nice.  It looks like we will begin dating again soon.

I'm expecting my sister and her family down from SC on Tues.  I'm planning to make 3-Bean Chili; however, she said they would like to take me out to eat and save me the work.  Since I make that meal in a crockpot, it's really no work.  I will make it today and it can be frozen if not eaten soon.

I hope everyone else is having pleasant holidays, with no trips to the ER!

Hugs,
Connie

Hi Wayne, I can understand the urge to drink more. While I only drink once or twice a year, I often have the urge to drink. Anything to wipe these feelings away. But, I know that it won't help me, and I could see myself easily falling into the spiral of alcoholism. When I was younger I drank alot to help relieve the troubles in life, and I am so afraid of what may become of me if my husband doesn't make it through this. I can only pray that God gives me the strength to deal with anything that may come my way. I pray that for you also, and I will be praying that Cindy gets a transplant soon.

Take care!

Wayne, I will pray that you find peace through all of this. I agree w/ Connie and Butterfly....you need to find some outlet for this as the caregiver, as drinking is not the best choice....you could end up needing a transplant, too....you need to care for yourself. I will keep praying for you.

Connie- Hope you have a wonderful visit w/ your sister. My parents came in from SC as well to see me. (I was raised in SC and moved to TX about 16 years ago). Really miss my east coast!

Wayne,

I am praying for you and your wife buddy. Just let me say, I have felt like drinking many times... It will not solve a thing, but could make them worse. Think of you wife, and how it would make her feel. You have to hang in there and be a rock. DO NOT STOP PRAYING! The loss of my wife to this disease is the worst pain that I have ever felt, don't give up. If you ever need anything I am here in North Carolina.
