Mayo Clinic has a very good article about end-of-life issues, including what to expect before death--how to tell that death is imminent.  I know that this is something that is often asked about here.  They also offer tips on both home and hospital/hospice care, etc.  Although cancer is in the title, it applies to anyone dying from disease.  Here is the link:
