well i took my mom back to the doctor for another check up(she going twice a week) and the doctor answered my questions this time and my mom has gone slightly down in the water. he was pissed to find out social security and medicaid turned her down saying she can still work and says she is to fragile to work so he said to have them send a paper and he will fill it out stating she cant work. so we will be doing that monday after her appointment. he seemed so much better than the last time and explained alot and put her on lactuse for the encenpathy and other stuff and left her on the lasix and the alactone. please keep the prayers up. we also got a paper to give me durable power of attorney over her medical decisions if she comes unable to do it herself.

WorriedGirl, I am so glad that the doctor is being more cooperative.  BTW, it is spelled Lactulose.  The more the doctor sees that you are interested and informed, the more I think he will be willing to help her.  That's good news on the Medicaid/SSI thing!  That's exactly what they want..a statement from a doctor saying she can no longer work.  Very few doctors are willing to do this (mine wouldn't.)  When SS sent me to their own vocational doctor, he ruled that I could still work.  SS finally overruled his decision.

yes i am so happy, sorry bout the spelling error. i took alot of what i learned here and asked him questions. he seemed shocked i knew this stuff and i explained im part of a support forum. he was happy. he literally threw his pen down angrily when he heard that they said she could still work and stated you are to fragile to work. so i dont think is so much an idiot this time as maybe he was busy the last time lol. now my next thing is getting my mom into their support group for hep c patients. i think this would do her good as i know she is depressed(he said th Lactulose should help with her depression some to since the meds wasnt working). thanks for your support. she goes back monday

That is great news. It makes things so much better and easier when you have doctors and medical staff that are helpful. I really hope that she gets the medicaid and SSI. Keep us posted. :-)

yeah yeah Great news worriedgirl! When my husband got some doctors that knew what they were doing it made it a little easier on me. I didn't have to second guess them.

Take care........thoughts and prayers.........

Worried Girl, ask your mom to just try the support group.  She will find others with the exact same symptoms and problems and maybe she won't feel so alone.  She is also very welcome to participate here.  There are only a few of us who are patients (including myself), as most are caregivers or concerned loved ones.

I didn't point out your spelling error to embarrass you.  It's just that the more knowledgeable you are, the more the doctor will respect you and the better you can care for your mom (for instance, if you have to look up something about the drug, it helps to know the correct spelling.)  wink
