I'm new to the forum and oh so pleased to have found you!  My husband has Hep C from a transfusion in 1970.  He's been through the interferon and ribovirin treatment but it didn't work.  It just seemed to really make his virus angry.  His main problems now are diabetes and maintaining his ammonia levels.  When his level gets elevated he can't remember anything.  Here lately he started getting really angry.  I hate the ammonia.  I want to "fix" it.  I went through Alzheimers with my mom, my husband's memory condition reminds me of that.  I can't bear the thought of him not knowing who I am some morning.
Well enough of that.
I'm interested in some recipes.  I thought I saw a recipe exchange area but now I'm not sure.

Hello For Sugar Bear and we are glad you found us too.

With my husband .........I never got the feeling that he didn't know who I was..........I got the feeling that he could not control his actions and would get angry if any tried to stop him from what ever he was trying to do. No matter how crazy it was. Like going outside naked........I had to stop him on more than one occasion.

I think your correct about the recipes........Connie, weren't you in that thread?

We have an educational thread attached to the Hep Resource at the top of the first page of our forum. Please read it. It has lot's of good information concerning liver disease.

Take care........thoughts and prayers............

Thanks for the welcome. I didn't mean he doesn't know me. I meant his confusion reminds me of my mother's condition. I know they are different. He gets really frustrated trying to express himself or remember things. I've finally learned not to correct his version of things that are not important. What's that saying..."Pick Your Battles!"
His lactulose dosage has been increased to three times a day but i think it will be increased again at Tuesdays appointment.
He is 72 and has been denied transplantation. He wasn't sick enough when he was young enough now he's too old. At least that's what the VA tells us. They just treat symptoms now.
We're okay with it but sometimes its hard.
We know that prayers keep us going.

Welcome, For SugarBear.  I don't think we had actual recipes, but just suggestions as to how to find some types of recipes by Googling.  Also, Chow.com has a lot of good recipes, as do WD.com (Woman's Day), etc.

It does sound as though your husband's Lactulose might need to be increased.

Keep us posted!
