I live in one of 3 small towns and I used to work at the resource center here, I had a few clients who had HEP C and I honestly did not know what to do with them. I went home and re ad they ought to eat more vegetables and no meat was about all I could tell him. I am trying to figure a way to have some kind of meeting/seminar, either in the public or with the school kids. I had given the new case manager all the material I had and when I asked her about it the other day, she had it boxed up. Does anyone have any ideas???

Still wish someone could get a hold of John. Doesn't anyone have his phone number or a number of a relative that could be called. I know that we are all private and paranoid of our business getting in the right hands, but in my Marine Moms Group, myself and one other lady had every ones phone number and address..just in case. You know like for the ones that have no one (human) there with them to call someone in case of emergency. So let me put this out there for everyone to ponder? Do you think that the moderator or another person chosen from this group should monitor ones we haven't heard of. ??? Now do not get me wrong. I know there were definitely times when I was really sick that I did not talk or refused to talk to somebody. But wouldn't it be better too know that one of us just doesn't want to be socializing or is this person in need of help.

What do you think? Please put in your input, no matter what !! Also if any suggestions on how people like us could notify everyone about this dragon silent epedemic, let me know
Please take a second to respond !!

Karen, I applaud you for wanting to do what you can to educate people about hep C.  BTW, it's not NO meat, but no beef.  I also take a multivitamin every day, 500 mg of Vit. C, and 400 IU of Vit. E.  This must be okay because they continue to give me my vitamins whenever I'm hospitalized, even with the liver cancer.  I eat tons of fresh fruit.  Prevention should be part of the education, as well as testing for those who had transfusions prior to 1992 and those who were IV drug users or had other high risk for contracting hep C.  The best resource I have found online is Hepatitis Central.  The site has been running for years and is full of every kind of information you could ever want.  The link is:  http://hepatitis-central.com/  Please note that I have no vested interest in this site and haven't even been there for a long time.  However, I know it's there if I ever want to read up on anything.

In regard to the personal contact info, I'm ambivalent.  I know we get a lot of members who post a couple of times and then we never hear from them again.  However, if it's someone who has been around for a long while and was very active and suddenly disappeared...there might be reason to try to contact that person.  I know that Pink Grandma does have John's number.  I think she is planning to call him soon, but her plate is rather full right now.  She did call and left messages when he wasn't on the forum.  It turned out that he was with family out of state.  We are concerned about him now, as we haven't heard anything for quite awhile.  I'm going to be AWOL myself for at least a month, due to upcoming surgery on Aug. 12th.  But PG is aware of that and I will post about it before the fact.

Hugs,

Connie

Hi Karen,  I do have John's number and I called it.  The good news is that it is still a his number.   I left a message for him to either call me or post or have someone else to do it for him if he couldn't.

As far as someone having everyone else's number.  That's sounds like a good idea but who is that person or persons going to be?  I know most probably won't want to do it for safety or privacy reasons.  And I can not say that I blame them.   I am for it though.

Connie,  you know I will be calling you to check on you when you have surgery ......
