can hepatitis last after being exposured to air? can hepatitis last on a cigarette that was exposed to bodily fluids a day prior and then once the flame is applied to the cigarette?

how long after possible exposure can you get tested?

mpete, hepatitis C is a blood-borne disease and only transmissable through blood.  Hep B can be contracted through bodily fluids, though it's doubtful that you would get it through someone's mouth on a cigarette.  If you are at all concerned that you have been exposed, request a blood test from your doctor.  I don't know how long you should wait for testing.  That is something to talk to your doctor about.  Even if you have contracted hep B or C, your immune system can throw the virus off.  If you are at risk for contracting hep B, there is a preventative vaccine for that.

That was a little too much information, so I had to edit that part out.

The immune system can fight off viral hepatitis.  In some people, it doesn't and then it becomes a chronic condition.  I believe they give immunoglobulin after exposure to hep B.

Since this forum is for those who have already been diagnosed with liver disease, or whose loved one has been, I suggest you contact your doctor with any questions or concerns you have.
