Dear Experts,

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone here, thanks for the experts and the forum...

Last week, on Saturday, I went to the hospital to visit my friend. She was diagnosed with Hepatitis B, very ill. The doctor said that she was in the chronic stage...

Since the doctor wanted to check the test result again, so my friend passed it to me and I brought that test to the doctor lab. The paper accidentally cut my finger, and I had one small wound in my thumb...

I am afraid that my friend had left some body fluid on that paper and passed HBV to me when I hold that paper. Could I catch HBV from this situation?

Because I am very afraid, I have had one shot of Engerix-B this morning. The doctor said that this vaccine is from Belgium and it is very effective. But I took the vaccine after 48 hours of exposure. Am I safe from catching HBV?Of course, I tested negative before taking the vaccine.

Please help me! I am very scared!

Thank you in advance,

It would be nearly impossible to contract hep B that way.  If you are concerned, get tested again in about a month.  This forum is for those already diagnosed with liver disease, or whose loved ones have been.

Good luck, but don't worry.

Thank you Forum Moderator,

I am sorry for being here!

But if you can assess my risk, please help me.

I did not see any visible blood left on that paper, but I am still scared since HBV is very strong, and it can live outside the body for seven days.

Could you give my your assessment again?

Thank you,

i thought i recognized you from another forum i wont name. im gonna say we are not doctors, the only way you will know is to go see one but if the same  holds true in the other forum you will keep worrying. im not trying to be rude or out of turn so i apologize if i do but you should see a doctor about anxiety cause it seems to me like you worry about needless things. i doubt you are at risk but if you want to know for sure than go see a doctor
