Hello, All! I have not posted in quite some time.....since being laid of work in Auugust, I have found that I am exactly where I am needed right now and that is here at home providing full time care to hubby and taking care of our 5 year old. That all said and done, it seems like I read a while back that another caregiver's spouse, who also had Hep C and cirrhosis was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension secondary to the liver disease. My husband underwent (proper use of grammer?) some testing yesterday to rule that out, and I wanted some input on the hepato- pulmonary hypertension. Does that buy you more points on the meld score? Is that something that completely knocks you off the list because there is no cure?, etc?? We are waiting for the results, but at the same time the doctor is probably going to start breathing treatments 3 times a day (here at home) to help my husband get the oxygen he needs......ughhhh.,....I hate this disease! There are so many other things going on outside the liver, and it seems that all of it is pointing back to the liver, but he's "not sick enough" and his MELD is still pretty low........

Thanks!

Mer, it's good to see you here!  (Correct grammatical usage, but only Kelsey Grammer spells it with an e...it's grammar.  smilewinkgrin   )  Sorry, couldn't resist that.

I DO remember someone's husband having pulmonary hypertension, but darned if I can remember who it was!!  Perhaps someone else will recall.  I do think that it increased the MELD score.

I'm glad that you are able to be where you need to be right now.  Don't be a stranger!

Hugs,
Connie

Thanks, Connie! I am trying to check in more often....just have had my hands a little full! Hubby truly is not doing well.....aside from what his silly MELD score says.....this is just crazy. You kind of wonder how much longer he can live like this. He really has no quality of life.....he's feeling to crummy to do anything and just sleeps ALOT!

Sorry, guess I needed to vent! Hoping that person with the pulmonary hypertention resurfaces, would really like to pick their brain......

Hoping you are feeling well......

Mer, I think I found the discussion on it by doing a search.  It was Moonroe, but she hasn't posted in some time.  Here's the link:
