Bettadaze, welcome to the forum.  When your diagnosis was made, were you told that you are in an active state of hep B?  In other words, are you in the acute stage of the disease?  How long have you had symptoms?  If you have only had hep B for a short time (less than 6 mos.), you can be successfully treated.  Often the body's own immune system will kick the virus out of the system.  If you are in the acute/infectious stage, you do need to take certain precautions to prevent passing the virus on to others.

Hang in there!

Bettadaze, I'm glad to hear that your husband tested negative.  The GI doc may want to do a biopsy to ascertain the exact amount of damage to your liver, etc.  Do let us know what he recommends.  When you go to see him, have a list of written questions to ask him and write down the answers, or take someone with you who will remember what he says.

Hugs and all the best to you,
Connie
